Reiss concerned about Cunningham

Ian Rapoport down on Cunningham

On Comcast Sportsnet Tonight, Ian Rapoport predicted that Cunningham will take "a step back" this season. ( How can you take a step back from one career sack ? ).

Rapoport said that "unlike most guys, he has been pushed around a little bit in practice". He went on to say that, "he does not really look fantastic right now, and if your wondering why the Patriots have brought in so much help on the defensive line, you could point the finger at Cunningham ".

we had the chance to draft Carlos Dunlap over him. I wonder why we chose Cunningham instead? I guess urban meyer was higher on cunningham at the time and let BB know.

Re: Ian Rapoport down on Cunningham

Maybe we should wait until he's played in one preseason game, surrounded by undrafted rookies, playing against rookies, for two series. Of running plays to the other side of the field.

Then we'll have information to cut him from the roster. Fair enough?

At least then we'll have seen him for ourselves.

Re: Ian Rapoport down on Cunningham

Supposedly BB would visit Florida and ask about him years before he left for the draft...

Though Rappaport and Reiss are not NFL scouts, I do worry about the reports... I actually thought C would be making a leap in 2011. I may be dissapointed.

Re: Ian Rapoport down on Cunningham

Cunningham was drafted under different circumstances. Now with a change in defensive line philosophy he may not exactly have a role just yet. How is he possibly going to compete with veteran 4-3 ends that Bill is bringing in who are a bit bigger and stronger. I would not worry too much about this I am sure Bill will find new roles for him.

Again...Carlos Dunlap is 280lbs. There is no way in hell he could ever play as a 3-4 OLB. He fits the Bengals defense because the Bengals run a 4-3 Leo (aka 3-4 leo) where the 43LDE plays the 5 tech and they need the LDE to be around 275lbs and above. That's why Justin Smith fit well with them. That's why Odem fit well with them.
They also have either the SAM or a WILL right next to the 5 tech 4-3 LDE.

Also, I rather pass on this idiot. This idiot got wasted 3-4 days before the SEC championship game, drove his car, passed out in the middle of the intersection with the car on drive.
JC was BB's binkie when BB went down to U of Florida when JC was just a sophomore.

Last time Reiss predicted a TC demise the player ended up starting 15 games for us at QB, got franchise tagged and traded for a #2 the following season. I think he went to the pro bowl last season... Rap hasn't even been at camp, he's busy retweeting what Guregian reports to him since you can't tweet from camp... Really there's not a mediot in this town who has a genuine clue what is going on with this team let alone twelve days into TC this season...

Just a point of information... Willie McGinest played between at between 275 and 280 lbs and he did just fine as a 3-4 OLB. That isn't the issue with Dunlap..

C'mon NinjaZX6R, you should know by now that rating a player's prospective career can be assessed at the end of their rookie season due to instant gratification, what have you done for me lately Eddie.

Thought Willie weighed in around 270?

Wow, really??

The next time I give a rat's @$$ what Reiss or Rappaport, or ANY of the debris at the Pravda or the Herald have to say...will be the first time.

Not to kiss anyone's @$$, but I could name at least a DOZEN, hereabouts, who offer more Insight and quality Analysis than those SLUGS.

Agreed. When it comes to Patriots knowledge who knows better than the posters of this message board. I don't care if the beat reporters are at every practice or if they get to interview all the players and coaches in person, or if they are part of some "reporters fraternity" where they share Patriots information between themselves, comparing and contrasting what they see.

I am Crowell33 internet message board poster, and I know more than all of them !

:rocker:

It would be so nice to click on a thread and see additional discussion or updates to the thread topic instead of 2-10 page pissing matches all of the time.

That is something the mods can very easily keep in check, yet choose not to, for some reason. Perhaps Ian can shed some light on this subject.

This is why you should elect me as the next new mod. I would certainly not be afraid to clean this stuff up.:beatingcoming:

I asked him on twitter a while back, and he said he played anywhere between 263 and 270.

Bedard has had great reports. Reiss usually at least is straight up and will admit he doesn't have enough info for an informed POV. To be fair, his comments on Cunningham are blown out of proportion and here. Reiss wasn't impressed, and it turns into cunningham being the worst player in the world. Rapoport, on the other hand, I agree.

MIke Reiss is probably one of the most knowledgable and savy pats reporters out there.. i give him alot of credit...
