In addition to the standard height weight speed measurements that football players undergo, there has been an attempt to ascertain what the successful NFL QBs have that the NFL QBs who fail do not have.

An empirical rule called the "26, 27, 60 QB Rules" has been devined to segregate the winners from the losers.

Essentially, it measures brain power, successful collegiate longevity, and collegiate throwing accuracy.

A successful NFL QB will possess more than a 26 on his Wonderlic score; have started 27 or more college games; and possess an accuracy of 60% or better.

RIVA RANTS: 26-27-60 Rule

Brady failed one of the criteria, as he only started 25 games in college, losing some starts to Drew Henson. Ryan Mallett fails one of the criteria, with his completion accuracy finishing at 59% while his Wonderlic was OK with a 26, and he started 29 games.

You must have missed my thread on that. I'm too lazy to go look for it.

Brady just barely didn't make it, Mallett just barely didn't make it.

Coincidence? I think not.

They are similar in a lot of ways, not very mobile entering the draft, one of the best arms in the class. Not saying that Mallett will end up like brady, but they have a lot in common.

and both taken behind 5 other qb's after a long slide too i guess

Both won 3 super bowls and are headed to canton...o wait getting ahead of myself here. Both WILL :rocker: .

Correction: 5, not 3.... There I fixed it for you.

Has anyone been on the Colts/Jets boards for reaction. I'm thinking they might be on some type of suicide watch.

HA! You must not be up to date on Jet-April-Delusion syndrome. Wilkerson was the steal of the draft and their 3rd round criminal will be an all-pro while we failed to help ourselves at all.

Oh and Casserly liked their RB in the 4th or whatever. They are spring Superbowl-bound again.

And early reaction on the Colt board seemed to be that they had gotten their guy all along in Castonzo who will step in day 1 while our guy Solder is a project or something.

3???

anyway, I think marino's wonderlic was like 15, or something like that.

And Favre's was no great shakes, either.

Bradshaw and Rothlesberger just missed the Wonderlic cutoff with 24s, and 25s. Significantly, the only outright failure that comfortably passed all three criteria, was HeismanTrophy winner Matt Leinart. But his problem was he was chasing the ladies too much...
