Let's move beyond the headline and see what Wilfork had to say.
It Is What It Is » Vince Wilfork: Retirement ‘definitely a possibility’ if full season is missed
“Oh yeah, I thought about that,” said Wilfork when asked if he’d would retire if a season is wiped out. “A full season, that’s a season gone. I mean, eight years, it’s not like I’m in my first or second year. It goes through my mind all the time, of course. I’m down at a place that I love, that’s home for me, Florida. Being able to sit back and enjoy my ranch, enjoy kids, enjoy great weather all the time, who wouldn’t think about that?”
“It [potential retirement] is a 50/50. It’s a possibility, it’s definitely a possibility,” Wilfork said.
A couple of things: first, Wilfork is talking about retirement if an entire season is lost. Second, he's currently reflecting on the time he has enjoyed this past off-season with his family. Third, he's only saying he would consider it.
Then again, if Tom Brady said this can you imagine the reaction from the national media?
