Well. There I got all schoolmarm-huffy about getting your ABCs right, but it turns out I should have been harping on 123s! Some of these lists of 9 picks contain as many as 11 names.

So let's just say right now that the first 9 names are the ones that count.

Well last year was my first go at this and I picked 3 out of 4 at one point and was a little high on patsfans.com. I was channelling BB but alas it didnt last. I was later tied by everyone who picked a PUNTER:bricks: Punters shouldnt count, lol. This year I am going to start with the all legacy team with a few changes:

Clint Boling
Cam Jordan
Mark Ingram
Edmund Gates
Stefen Wisniewski
Greg McElroy
Jason Pinkston
Demarco Murray
Bruce Carter

Brooks Reed OLB
Mark Ingram RB
Cameron Heyward DE
Torrey Smith WR
John Moffitt OL
Orlando Franklin OL
Tim Barnes OL
Aaron Williams DB
Marcus Gilchrist DB

I've debated names, format, and motive, and finally decided to just throw out nine names and just have fun with it. I'm going with a binky-list rather than a list of players I think are purely NE targets, so we'll see how that turns out.

Allen Bailey
Jarvis Jenkins
Ras-I Dowling
Leonard Hankerson
Delone Carter
Mario Fannin
Brandon Fusco
Byron Stingily
Kenrick Ellis

I somehow doubt I'm going to be very accurate this year.

I've had 7 players holding steady for weeks, but I keep churning the last 2. I guess it's time to press freeze:

Brandon Fusco
Buster Skrine
Cameron Heyward
Clint Boling
Derrick Locke
Jabaal Sheard
Muhammad Wilkerson
Ras-I Dowling
Ryan Williams

EDIT: superceded

What's fascinating to me is that although each list is unique, we have chosen many of the same players; if you collate the lists, we probably have a pool of roughly 30 players--in other words, a pretty strong consensus. Sounds like a good draft board to work from.

Funny you should say that...I was just thinking of wasting an evening this week pulling that together! I'd be interested to see how the PatsFans Consensus 9 fares in predictions.

(meanwhile i'm already regretting my own slate posted this afternoon. i've been steady on danny watkins and jj watt since december, why do i abandon them now?)

I had to revise my list to this: I dropped Paea (the Patriots have had 0 contact with him) and added Danny Watkins (a Mankins clone):

1) Ras-I Dowling CB
2) Pernell McPhee DE
3) Allan Bailey DE
4) Stefen Wisniewski OG
5) Gabe Carimi OT
6) Torrey Smith WR
7) Bruce Carter OLB
8) Doug Hogue LB
9) Danny Watkins OG

OK, with 40 entries in I've tallied up the top choices:

17 JJ Watt
15 Cameron Heyward
15 Danny Watkins
14 Cameron Jordan
14 Muhammad Wilkerson
12 Shane Vereen
9 Clint Boling
8 Mark Ingram
8 Ryan Kerrigan
8 Brooks Reed
8 Stefen Wisniewski
7 Brandon Fusco
7 Ryan Williams
6 Allen Bailey
6 Gabe Carimi
6 James Carpenter
6 Bruce Carter
6 Ras-I Dowling

I wouldn't have guess that Heyward would be edging Jordan as the top Cameron. And I'm a little surprised that Aldon Smith and Jabaal Sheard aren't better represented.

Thanks for putting the time in to do this. Now BB won't be picking any of them

I'm awful at this game, so for any of those who like the following I apologize

Muhammad Wilkerson

Cameron Jordan
Allen Bailey

Brooks Reed
Sam Acho
Greg Romeus

Nate Solder
Mike Pouncey
Danny Watkins

(Cameron Heyward was on my bubble)

Very cool. That's an illuminating list. Thanks for your efforts!

Isn't it odd how things are playing out this year? I am so torn on players. I can't recall being this indecisive last year; I had a good grasp on value and talent, and most of the players I liked (not all) had productive rookie campaigns. This year, I'm just incredibly conflicted.

I also think I should have included Mario Harvey in my projection. He's been in every one of my personal mock drafts for months, now, and he just fits our parameters so well as a late round gamble: four year starter, extremely productive (over 420 tackles), exceptional special teamer, capable of playing multiple positions, an accomplished blitzer, good at taking on blocks, an elite athlete with excellent bulk, etc, etc.

Truth be told, there just aren't enough slots to fit in all the players I like. If we trade down a couple times, we will end up with 10 - 12 picks again, and I wish I had the freedom to list a few extra players whom I think we might be targeting. Ah well.

I'm not so optimistic on him...undersized ILBs who are the heart and soul of their college teams sadly have a poor record of making it in the NFL.

The odd thing about my list is that few of my absolute favorites in this draft made it on. Much as I may dream of JJ Watt in a Patriots uniform, I don't think it's going to happen.

Clint Boling G Georgia
Julian Vandervelde G,C Iowa
Lee Ziemba T Auburn

DeMarco Murray RB Oklahoma
