Day 1
#17 JJ Watt DE Wisconsin. Size, length, and freakish athleticism. I think he'll be a great fit for the defense if he does indeed last this long.
#28 Derek Sherrod OT Miss State. Long arms and smooth athlete to protect Brady now that Light looks like he's gone. I could also see us trading down out of here but this guy is probably the last 1st round quality tackle left so I'll take him here.
Day 2
-Trade Down with Detriot. #33 (580) for #44 (460) + #106 (82) + #137 (37.5).
-Trade up with Arizona picks #60 (300) + 74 (220) for #38 (520).
#38
Justin Houston DE/LB Georgia. I don't see Houston with a 1st round pick, but in the 2nd round he offers excellent value. A little bit more explosiveness than Cunningham and at 270 and 6'3 he fits the size profile well enough to justify the pick. His long 34.5" arms also compensate for lack of height. The Pats now have two young OLBs to groom who can hopefully rush the passer a bit better in 2011.
#44 Danny Watkins OG Baylor. A mature prospect who looks like you could plug him in and play him right from the start. Pats might just need that with the way the Mankins situation has gone downhill.
Day 3
#92
Edmond Gates WR Abilene Christian. Has the lightning quickness the Pats covet along with the deep speed. 4.37 40 at the Combine. Not just a track star, this guy looks like a football player. He seems capable of working Patriots type routes and taking them the distance if there's daylight. Could be the next Mike Wallace.
#106
Jacquizz Rodgers RB Oregon State. Something about his build and his moves make me think Emitt Smith. Lowest man to the ground wins and the guy looks surprisingly effective at squirting into the endzone. Pass catching ability is also a plus. Between Rodgers and Woodhead, the Pats RBs would have the shiftiness to drive defenses batty.
#123 Buster Skrine CB Chattanooga. Has the big time quicks, speed, and agility that the Pats value in a nickel corner.
#137 Traded for future 4th round pick.
#156
Greg Romeus DE/LB Pittsburgh. Intriguing potential when healthy. He'd essentially be a redshirt pick like Tate.
#184 Jake Kirkpatrick C TCU. Another developmental OL pick for Dante to work on.
