What type of tender would a RFA - BJGE get?

I know there are major questions about the CBA and we are not sure the
status of a RFA.....

Let's say based on last years rules, what type of tender would BJGE get?

I believe he would get a 2nd round tender.
This may not be a popular prediction, but I also predicted that Ghost
would get a 2nd round tender last year when the majority of the people
felt he would get a first round tender.

Now I know that a 13 touchdown RB should hold more value than a PK,
but I still would be willing to bet that BJGE will get a 2nd round tender.

Depends on where the Pats feel like they want to be picking RBs in the draft, and how confident they are finding quality RBs in free agency, because there's not much depth behind the Firm right now.

1st round tender should be given to Benny. Runs hard, deserves the extra money.

Personally, I see whatever the tender the Pats give him as a prelude to a longer-term deal, not in place of one. [See Gostkowski, Stephen.]

Let's be clear. I have had Green-Ellis 5th on the depth chart in camp for the past two years. I wanted to bring in someone to replace him last year. That is in the past. He has had a great season, over 1000 yards with no fumbles. He is dependable. He is our #1 running back and I would like to sign him to a long-term contract. However, no player is automatic to sign a long-term contract. That's just reality.

I expect the tender to be irrelevant. I expect a long term deal. However, a tender of $2.6M for 2011 wouldn't put him in any rush to sign a long-term deal. With $2.6M essentially guaranteed, he can be more picky about long-term deals from us or anyone else.

It is not a matter of whether he is WORTH a 1st or 2nd round money. He is certainly worth 1st round money to the patriots. Gost was WORTH first round money in any case.

The open question in how money per year he will get in his long-term offer. The patriots got a huge bargain with what they paid Woodhead. It remains to be seen what they choose to offer Green-Ellis.

And BTW, perhaps we'll offer Green-Ellis a good enought contract so that he will sign before March 4th.

I don't agree, mgteich. As an example, if the Pats offered a 3 year $14M deal with $6m in guarantees he would need to think long and hard over it.

He'll be offered 3 years maybe ... 2 with a team option would be my guess.

I doubt he would take it and i doubt Bill offers him a full 3 years.

I agree that Green-Ellis would jump at $4.67M a year for three years, with $6M in guarantees. I don't think that the patriots will offer that, but that wasn't your point.
