I think he may have meant we (the Miami defense) beat the hell out of them (the Jets offense) today, in which case it's tough to argue.

Is it normal for teams to have their position and conditioning coaches all lined up on the sideline like that on kick offs? I honestly don't know if all teams do that, maybe they do. It looks funny in the stills with them all lined up, toes on the line, feet shoulder width apart sole to sole hands in their pockets - like they're blocking a penalty kick in soccer.

Maybe he was refering to the fact that his defense shut down sanchez and co. Still, a 4 point victory doesnt exactly qualify as "beating the hell out of a them."

Just happened a short while ago.

Why are these guys all lined up like this? Its seems to me that they are there intentionally with the hope of being just off the white area and hoping they can get in the way. It would be interesting to see if they were standing there like that all game or if they lined up like that before the kick.

There are actually some internet rumors floating around that yes indeed, the Jets were upset with Miami punt coverage players running downfield while out of bounds (in fact they were flagged for it earlier in the game) and the coaches were deliberately stationed there right on the white line.

Sometimes internet rumors turn out to be complete bullcrap someone made up. Sometimes there's something to them. If this one has any basis whatsoever in fact, then that certainly hurts Alosi's "spur of the moment" defense. I agree it would be very interesting to check out some footage from earlier in the game (or even other games) to see if those same men are always lined up in such tight formation, or if this was something special for the Miami punt coverage unit.

Wouldn't surprise me. The same player had been flagged for leaving the field of play earlier in the game. It would not have taken a rocket scientist to figure out that he might grace their sideline again.

But look at the video and/or the still image. Alosi appears to be the first man in phalanx of six sweat-suited soldiers who were lined up like soccer players bracing for a kick.

If Alosi truly opted to throw his knee into the path of Dolphins gunner Nolan Carroll on his own, it possibly didn’t happen because Alosi caught a wild hair but because Alosi and others had been coached by someone to provide an impediment to the gunner. And that makes whoever decided to put Alosi and others in that way partially responsible for Alosi’s apparent decision to be active than passive in impeding Carroll’s progress.

For now, we’re not saying whether anyone is or should be responsible beyond Alosi. But we think that the league should look into whether the Jets routinely deploy the Alosi alignment.

That was an absolute chicken - poop move by the AOG strength coach yesterday, tripping that Dolphin punt returner. He should be kicked out of this league. What a disgrace!

I like Chad Crowder's (Miami LB) commentary -
Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder, whose self-professed hatred of the Jets is well known, used Alosi's bush-league move to light into Ryan and the entire organization.

"They're cheaters," Crowder said of the Jets. "They do what they do: They cheat, talk junk and all that stuff. But we beat the hell out of them today, so they can trip all the people they want to. I wish they'd tripped me. I would have broke that old man's leg."

Crowder said Alosi "should be ashamed of himself, a grown man doing that."

Sparano said he was aware of the Alosi incident during the game because his assistant coaches in the press box had seen the TV replay and screamed to him about it through Sparano's headset.

Sparano complained to the officials at the time, but nothing was done because they did not see it. Sparano said he planed to send film of the incident to the league.

Surprisingly, Carroll had the calmest reaction of all the Dolphins.

"It's on them," he said. "It's water off a duck's back. We won, and that's all that's important."

Not to Crowder, who issued a blistering denunciation of all things Jets.

"They're ****y for no reason," he said. "They haven't won anything. They act tough, but they're not tough. They're a good team, but they're not what they come off as they are. I hate fake people and I hate poseurs, and a lot of them are [fake and poseurs]. And I just totally don't like them."

Looks like the operation is falling apart down there. Can't exactly say I am heartbroken over that development. I hope the Steeler's crush them 31-7 next Sunday and the Bears pile onto their misery. That would set up a must win situation against Buffalo who show no signs of quitting (bless their hearts).

Interestingly, the Jets’ Twitter page points out that Alosi “hasn’t heard from NFL yet.” But why would Alosi ever hear from the NFL? The Jets can’t pass the buck on this one; the organization must discipline Alosi, and then the organization’s reaction will be assessed by the fans and the media as to whether it was appropriate.

The mere fact that the Jets would suggest that punishment will come from the league bolsters our suspicion that Alosi wasn’t positioned on the edge of the white stripe with five other guys standing shoulder to shoulder because they all wanted a better view of the game. It’s looking more likely that they had been instructed to form a human fence, and that Alosi took it a step way too far.

So if the Jets were to fire Alosi, Alosi potentially would say, “Wait a minute. I was only there because Rex Ryan told me to be there.”

Either way, this one isn’t over yet. And we’ve got a feeling it’s going to get more interesting.

Maybe the football gods will or have punished them, but I don't think anyone else will, particularly their No. 1 fan, Roger Goodell. I can only see this debacle coming back on the Pats (a possible mental distress defense directed at that 45-3 score). The Pats will likely forfeit 3 draft picks for being too good and thereby forcing the Jets to resort to desperate tactics like this. The Jets are actually victims in this incident.

And no, I see little happening with either this or the Favre incident.

It seems pretty clear that the blockade was planned.

The Miami gunner had been playing a little fast and loose with the sidelines, so the Jets' staff carefully lined up in to impede him -- in perfect formation, every toe brushing the white line. Hard to believe that "just happened." It's not necessarily even a problem, if the goal was just to discourage Carroll's wandering.

But...when Carroll did come down their sideline at full tilt, instead of scattering they all carefully stood their ground, hands in pockets, staring him in the eye. They were deliberately blocking his path in a way that endangered all concerned. Again, that didn't "just happen." The extra knee action may not have been part of the plan, but it was a natural result of it.

IMO The big question for the Jets is whether the staff came up with this little gambit themselves (perfectly possible), or whether they were instructed by Ryan & co. If it's the latter...

Alosi apologized but not a peep from Jabba, Tannenbaum, Woody Johnson Etc. What class. I would expect the team to issue a statement condeming Alosi action but as far as i know none has been released.
