Curran:Brady's receivers well covered

The offense was drastically better with him here...coincidence?

Not to mention we have to re-work the entire offense mid-season now.

The offense was not drastically better with him here, any more than Minnesota's was. That is why they moved away from him after the JETS game. And using him as a $9M decoy isn't a sustainable option. Which is why no one other than Tennessee bothered making a claim for him. He doesn't elevate anyone elses game anymore, and in fact he can pose a distinct drag on them off the field if he's not catered to not to mention on the field when he is. Tennessee claimed him because Britt is OUT for the next 4-6 weeks minimum and they needed a replacement and he was certainly the most credentialed on the market despite his warts.

Really? Then, why would BB want him back on the roster if he no longer elevates anyone else's game anymore? Why are Shefter et all have reporting that the Pats were willing to offer Randy a contract had he fell thru waivers?

Either way, we can't ignore that fact that a deep threat does open things up for our offense. Branch and Welker can't get anything without it. We def need a deep threat no matter who it is. I'm not saying we need Moss but someone that can stretch the field an open things up. We just got shut out by the Browns of all teams.

A bad game is possible but our offense needs help. Can't deny that fact. Steelers and Jets will be terrible games if we keep this up. I think BB will make some adjustments, he has too after this game

Because they would have gotten him cheap and Minnesota would have to pay the rest of his contract? And Randy wanted to come back after seeing the horrors of Vikings catering?

A cheap decoy for the rest of the season makes some sense.

That was pure speculation on Schefters part. I doubt there was any interest for a number of reasons not the least of which is despite what Randy says at any given time, what Randy later feels impacts his game and therefore your game. He will never be happy as a decoy and his days of being much more are in the rear view. It was always a risk/reward calculation with Randy and by the end of 2009 Bill knew the risk was exceeding the reward - on and off the field.

Everything has to be extremes here.

It can't be that BB traded Moss because he wanted to avoid the distractions Moss can and has caused off and on the field that could impact the team but that his absence and the lack of any kind of replacement has diminshed the offense.

Nope, has to be either BB was wrong to trade Moss or that he was right to trade Moss who no longer had an impact on the field and didn't contribute to making the offense better.

Moss isn't what he used to be - and he is an overpaid decoy, but we have no suitable replacement for what he did for us. That's the key - he may have been a problem-child, but we can't replace what he did on the field for us.

Just look at Brady pre-Bye and after:

Tom Brady Profile - New England Patriots - ESPN

He completed nearly 80% of his passes against Miami & Buffalo, and 70% against Cincy.

He's only topped 60% once with Moss gone, and that was 61%.

Those are rather drastic changes - and I don't see how its going to get much better anytime soon. We will continue to face brutal D's, as we have all year. Only the Colts in the AFC South get those cupcake games against terrible pass defenses.
