You didn't hear ? We are all set at WR with Branch and Tate........

Ive been saying this all day, at first I thought "you know SD has a very underrated secondary and then the Vikings game and this game happened. Im convinced more than ever that we need somebody who catches the ball with their hands and gets open down the field consistently. This team doesn't have the defense nor the running game to win deep in the playoffs with average wideout play.

He needs a chance...

Welker isnt 100%, coming off such a major knee injury hes lucky to even be playing at this point in the season. At first many were saying he wouldnt be back until atleast midseason. His problem this year is that defenses have been jamming him at the line and making it difficult for him to get off the line. I would think having a bad knee would effect his speed and power of getting off the line.

Been going on for some time.

Unfortunately, he is known to catch less than ~30% of the balls thrown his way (preseason, senior bowl, and college). He seems to know how to get open, but is too inconsistent at catching the ball.

well we could see Gronch was featured today. how much do you expect from a rookie? two glowing mistakes really exacerbated this game.

now Wes was double teamed. wes isn't 100% anyways and I don't think Branch is with that hammy. now couple this with the inability to consistently run and we go problems.

you can't tell me that every wideout was covered and the browns were playing man coverage or tight zone. I have to say some of this is on brady. he's gotten off to slow starts in the past several games and suddenly lights it up in the second half.

someone said connolly played center, well if he did it's time to look at koppen. koppen is great at pass blocking but his run blocking is suspect. why the heck can't we run the ball consistently and let's not blame the rb.

i'm also not see much in the way of bunching wr's and confusing coverages.

Interesting ? Then why in the world would we invest a 3rd round draft pick in him then ?

yep wr was not a need before moss nor after Bradon tate is the stud we were searching for.. or is that Bethal johnson...

Where do you get 30% from, do you have a link? He caught over 50 balls his last 2 seasons in college, so are you suggesting he was targeted over 150 times per season?

Also remember he never had a real QB throwing him the ball.

our only hope, Moss get cut again, and slide back to Patriots.

Tate is essentially a rookie and they haven't even given Price a shot. Like on defense it's a year of transition at WR and will require patience.

At least now hopefully all the 'we're leading the league in PPG so the offense is clearly still amazing' talk can end. It's not the same offense without Moss. That said, it can still be pretty good.

I'm going on the assumption that if Brady couldn't find any open receivers then they either weren't open or weren't where he felt he could get a completion. He has demonstrated consistently that he can find the open receiver over a very long career. The fact that 2 of his more frequent targets are rookie tight ends helps to support the failure of the wide receivers being able to get separation. Looking at the receivers; Welker is still slowed by his injury and is drawing extra coverage on most plays, Branch looked good his first week but apparently is playing with a hamstring injury that is slowing him down, Edelman has been used very sparingly which is kind of interesting given how effective he was last year and my guess is the he is still affected from a couple of what appeared to be minor injuries from earlier in the year. I'm not sure that we know what Tate's capabilities are; we'd like to think he's the deep threat but there's not a lot of production to support that.

Maybe there were valid reasons that Brady seemed to be forcing the ball to Moss, it's just possible that no one was getting open then and throwing to Randy was the only option.

Price clearly isnt impressing in practices. He hasnt even been active

I'm a bit confused by that figure as well. That link from ATippett showed 56 receptions on 114 targets in 2009 with 6 drops, not Welker-range but not 30%. 2008 had 51 receptions on 78 targets with 3 drops, 65%.

He has been winning practice toughness awards all season.

So, you and others think BB watches every practise and then decides to play the guys on Sunday that do WORSE than Price, et. al.?
