Everyone seems to have forgotten that Welker is still recovering from his knee injury. He's not 100%.

This silliness that he is just mediocre since Moss left is astounding. It also tells me that no one ever watched Welker while he was in Miami. Including the games where he ripped the Pats to shreds..

I completely agree. Didn't Welker himself say he was about 85% a couple weeks ago?

if he's was not 100% then it was just plain dumb to trade moss away.

The elephant in the living room: Will Welker get back to 100%?

Welker wasn't his usual self even with Moss here. The fact he's even on the field is amazing. But it's been clear since week 1 he's not 100%.

YAWN... tell me something we dont know.. dont worry Tate and Taylor price will pick up the slack on the offense, lets not forget the awesome running of Ben Jarvis green ellis..

Knee braces traditionally prohibit tight rapid movement like Welker is known for.

It doesn't help that he's drawn consistent double coverage since Moss departed either.

I don't see how some people could believe that losing the best deep threat in the history of football does not impact the ability of the underneath/slot receiver to get open.

I don't see how some people can't make the connection that Welker's best games (not in the kicking game) were when Moss was still on the team.

The respect that coverages gave to Moss is not the same as they give to Tate. This should be obvious to fans and coaches, but I don't think the play calling and the play design has kept up with the change in personnel. Tate never gets separation on the deep routes, which baffles me because he has great speed and the routes aren't necessarily the hardest to run, but I digress.

The coaches are not utilizing Welker the same way that Miami did when he torched us in 2006(?). They are expecting him to get open again a stacked middle zone. There is no deception in what they are trying to do with him anymore. They need to change the play calling, I don't think it's Welker's fault.

I completely agree. Why did I order NFL Sunday Ticket again this yr.? I should have known better. This team has been going down hill for yrs. now. When's the last time this squad actually did something significant?

Time to pack the bags and go home. It was a great season and our boys gave it all they've got. Hey, on the bright side, I hear we have a ton of draft picks next yr.

Well, Sean. Go somewhere else if you don't like it because you whining like a 2 year old all the time isn't going to change anything. You're negativity shows your short-sightedness.

BTW, I don't have the time or the inclination to tell you everything you don't know. The list is too long and would take about 10 lifetimes.

Of course he's not 100%, half of Welker was traded away.

Even if he was 100%, it's silly to think that he'll be just as productive and effective without someone like Moss to attract coverage.

As usual with the Patriots and most other teams Welker was brought back too soon and not given enough to time to get 100%. Like Mayo last year. If he continues to play I expect he will less than 100% all season.

And when someone like Welker says he is 85% that means it is more like 50%.

Welker's numbers were great the first few games this season when Moss was here. His knee seemed fine then. His numbers are dramatically worse now.

One can't dismiss this being related to Moss not drawing double coverage anymore.

Yeah your right im soooooo sorry , i forgot that i cant be critical here.. if we dont bow down to the pats , which they have played well up until today , we are not worthy of your opinion... this team was a utter disapointment today... no way we lose 20 points to a team that had a third string QB... this defense was inept , as usual it falls on the coach.. Gronkowski today was awful.. 3 drops and 1 fumble.. Brady was off as well, but there is no running game besides Woodhead.. This was a game that they needed to win... Pitt , Indy Det, and the jets are going to be dogfights this was a game they should have won.. but they did not show up, lets just hope they show up next week and make this discussion moot, but the way the offense has played, it cant help a young defense...

Moss asked for the trade. He was a ticking time bomb. No reason we should have kept him if he didn't want to be there.

Welker's production is down in part because he isn't 100%. His production was solid before the Moss trade but was still down compared to the previous 3 years.

That said, it is impossible to ignore that since the trade he has been virtually invisible. Moss absence is clearly the cause of that. This offense doesn't have a guy on the outside to draw coverage away from him and defenses are having no trouble taking him completely out of the game.

He ripped the pats to shreds exactly once in 4 games against them. The 2nd game of his last season with the Doofins he had 1 catch for -1 yard.

However, you are correct he is not mediocre and is obviously not 100%, as he's said himself all along. He will probably not ever be a 100+ reception guy, even while healthy, without a deep threat though. Defenses in the NFL are simply too good to allow him to do that if there's not a bigger threat stretching the field.
