1) The defense is young and in transition and still has room to improve. This is especially true in the corners where we have seen little production from Wheatley, Butler or Wilhite. The prodcution has been so little that we have sometimes been forced to use safeties as nickel and dime backs.
2) The offense is also in transition, moving primarily to 2 TE schemes, with lots of dinks and dunks.
3) Both units needs lots and lots of contributions from players in their first year with the team, making transition challenging.

It is a strongly positive situation. While there may be losses when or both of these units has a poor day, it is most reasonable to expect both units to be considerably better by the time the playoff run comes around.
