Deion Branch To Wear #84
By: Ian Logue

With Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch passing his physical and reportedly set to start working with the team, it appears this will be a new start for him in New England in more ways than one....

Even Brad Childress is smart enough to know that he wouldn't get 83 back.

Well that settles it. Ben Watson isn't coming back.

Wow they aren't retiring Ben Watson's #? SLAP IN THE FACE!

Ben watson was the best TE for the Patriots, haha im sorry im cracking up trying to finish that sentence!!

Neither is Shawn Jefferson

lets get Shawn Jefferson to stretch the field

I guess I won't go digging out my old Branch/#83 shirt.

Deion just finished a nice, happy presser where he thanked both Seattle and NE for his times there and the chance to return here. Said he and Bill never let it get personal when he left, he and Tom stayed in touch, he thought he might be back last season and when it didn't happen he finally sold his condo this summer after renting it "to Derrick Burgess for a couple of minutes" (laughs all around). Said he is onboard with doing something with his deal and his agent and the Pats are working on that. I imagine they will restructure and add a year. Said he hopes he plays Sunday but it is up to coach depending on what he shows the next couple of days in practice. Said he does feel like he's come home despite some changes (like Patriot place and new faces and new plays) and it was great to see guys like Faulk and Light as well as vets like Taylor and Gerard Warren in the locker room. When asked about his old number he said Welker deserves it for all he does and he took a higher number because he's taller...

Our current 83 woulda been the MVP of the most recent Superbowl had David Tyreehole did not have super glue on his helmet.

Our 83>the old 83

Speaking of new 83--how happy do you think he is to see the Patriots pay Deion his $5M+ salary? I haven't heard anything about the Patriots getting Branch to redo his contract, and he's owed over $11M for 2010 and 2011. Wes is making $1.9M this year. He can't be happy about this.

No, but he'll get his extension soon enough.
