Which one of any of these 3 players coming off injuries and if they are ready to go (Rappaport thinks all 3 could be ready to go),would you want in a starting role?

I think Taylor would be more 100 times likely to take over starting RB from BJGE than the other twostarting right off the injured list.
Wheately is not even a strong backup yet so I see no way he takes over the CB spot IMO but when Arrington got the starting job you just never know whats up Belichick's sleeve

Kaczur coming off back problems is not a guy I would like to see take away from our already solid OL and as everyone knows, great OLs are OLs that play together week after week and thats what we have had so far so I would think Nick would not retain his role easily.

I think even if Kaczur is 100% healthy he's no longer a starter. Vollmer took over his position at tackle, and I would think Connolly would remain the starter at guard at this point. However, injuries are inevitable on the line, so he'll end up seeing plenty of playing time before the season is over - and that's without even taking into account Neal's recent history of injuries.

Wheatley, I don't know. If Butler is not ready to reclaim the starting position then he (Wheatley) could take over for Arrington. That's almost a pick your poison there, though by all the reports in preseason he was having a very good training camp.

That leaves Taylor, so I guess it's him by default. I don't think the Pats are going to run the ball a whole lot against Baltimore anyways, and against their defense perhaps it would be better to have a veteran in there. Actually Woodhead may see as much time as either of those two, taking snaps that would otherwise have gone to Kevin Faulk.

I agree, although I think you'll see a fair amount of ball control offense, so Taylor will get his touches.

I would think if Wheatley doesn't start, he's going to see a lot of action, assuming he's 100%. I am sure they'd love to lock up both corners and not have the revolving door they've had thus far.

Re: If Taylor,Wheately & Kaczur are ready to play....

It's pretty semantical, but I'd rather just start BJGE and limit Taylor's touches. The guy just can't stay healthy and, if possible, I'd like to keep him available for the playoffs.

Time for a Belichick answer and I actually believe it. Play whoever would give us the best chance to win.

Yeah, very good point. I guess I was thinking the veteran might be better with his blocking assignments against their pass rush, but I suppose that's rather short sighted if he's in there for a lot of snaps at less than 100% against that physical of a team.

Re: If Taylor,Wheately & Kaczur are ready to play....

Of the 3, I agree Taylor probably sees the most action. Having those 3 as depth isn't a bad thing tho...

Re: If Taylor,Wheately & Kaczur are ready to play....

Taylor is the best RB on the team, limiting his touches all year won't guarantee he is going to be productive in the playoffs. If he's healthy, play him where necessary, with BJGE sharing the load.

Re: If Taylor,Wheately & Kaczur are ready to play....

this is a horrible idea but:

i have great respect for Ngata, that guy is a player and a half

if he lines up against connolly is will be VERY interesting to see what happens, if conolly cant handle him, well have to figure out something

i dont trust ANY of our Olinemen to handle him easily...except vollmer

therefore if connolly has trouble, put vollmer in there, and replace kazcur back at RT

and pray it works

Re: If Taylor,Wheately & Kaczur are ready to play....

I really don't understand "Saving for the Playoffs". Save what, a 34 year old RB whos average at best now.

I think BJGE should be the starter the rest of the way.

Re: If Taylor,Wheately & Kaczur are ready to play....

ESPN just reported that Fred Taylor tripped over a daisy and broke his toe, he is expected back in six to eight weeks.

Hoping this is a joke. Just because he plays OL doesn't mean he plays every OL position. Totally different assignments at LG and RT

Re: If Taylor,Wheately & Kaczur are ready to play....

In my opinion these guys are all good depth to protect against injury. As far as RB is concerned, I feel that BJGE is the best back on this team and he should get most of the work. Woodhead is a good change of pace back and Taylor good depth.

There's no doubt in my mind Taylor is the best back on this team.

Re: If Taylor,Wheately & Kaczur are ready to play....

Kaczur is on IR now and Wheatley has returned to practice. I think Wheatley gets alot of playtime against the Ravens. He seems more physical than Butler but with better ball skills than Arrington. Now if he can only stay healthy...

Ask for a pony and the winning lottery numbers while you're at it.

Part of being a good back is the ability to stay healthy, which Taylor hasn't shown since he arrived in NE.

He hasn't played a 16-game season since 2003.

If Crable and/or Wheatley log any decent snaps this season it will be a nice surprise considering most of us had them as cuts.

Not to mention how it will reflect differently on the 08 draft.
