Best Offensive Player - Tom Brady - On a roll and throwing like the old Brady which I expect to come reasonably close to the points scored mark set in 2007 - some really good defenses to test the offense up ahead though

Best Defensive Player - Patrick Chung - A tough one to pick since this defense has been a troubled unit so far but Chung has noticably improved every week and has definately unseated James Sanders permanently

Best Special Teams player - Brandon Tate - Reminds me a lot of Devin Hester, blazing speed on kick returns, already 2 for TDs and is not a star or flashy WR but an above average receiver nonetheless

Best Rookie - Aaron Hernandez - The leader of this catagory by a mile, this is the modern day version of Tony Gonzalez..maybe even better because he plays like a WR

Most improved player - Ron Brace - Was surprised not to see him out there last night, might have a minor injury and the blowout made it easy to keep him off the field.

Most dissapointing player - Sebastian Vollmer - Still love the big guy but he has looked a little out of place and has been beaten a few times at RT fortunately there was help several times during this season that kept most of those guys off of Brady, maybe the sophomore jinx,I hope for his sake and Brady's sake he can hold off some monster edge rushers coming up from Pittsburgh,San Diego and Baltimore

Biggest pickup - Danny Woodhead - Put on the scrap heap by the Jets, this guy came just in time to replace a legend in Faulk,it won't happen to that extent because you can't replace Kevin, but Woody is doing an awesome job and is a role model to those small athletes who think they can't make it in the pros.

Most Surprising player - Wes Welker - A kind of oddball pick but looking at his devastating knee just 9 months ago and how he diced through the Dolphins on that 3rd quarter drive was just amazing as I think he looks closer to 100%,most of us thought Late November was more likely for his true comeback to his normal elite status, but he proved us wrong.

Comeback Player of the year - See Wes Welker above

Some of these awards are bound to change at the 1/2 way mark until then this is my selections.

Best D Player: Wilfork, game in and game out. Versitile too playing DE and NT

Most Disappointing: Clearly #28 whom we thought would start opposite Bodden

Most Worrisome: Ingrahm on his tendency for wild long snaps

Most Surprising: Law Firm beating out LoMo who's no mo

nice list.... nice thread. Thnx

Darius Butler has been 100x more disappointing than Vollmer.

Vollmer is a sophomore who is still learning. That said on one play Vol owned the guy, knocking him back TWICE; Brady simply held onto the ball too long. On the other play it looks as if he made a mental error going inside to block and leaving the rusher unchallenged. I am not knowlegeable enough to determine if this was per called blocking assignment, which I doubt.

Vollmer is nowhere's near a disappointment. See post #4.

Eugene Chung was typically the best player for opposing defenses. Boy did he suck.

Indeed. I don't think Vollmer is playing up to his potential yet (possibly due to injury), but I wouldn't call him a disappointment either.

Vollmer struggles with technique, and he's blown a few assignments. For a guy that many here were claiming was the team's best lineman, he's been a bit of a disappointment. For a second year guy still learning to play tackle in the NFL, he's been fine. Any disappointment is largely a function of inflated, and unrealistic, expectations.

Most of those who wanted Light gone have probably recanted that by now, which is good, since Light is still a quality left tackle.

ONly two changes I would make (and others pointed out)

Wilfork is by far the best defensive player we have

Butler is the most disappointing.. By a large margin

Yeah, that's fair enough I think. He's looked pretty good in the run game but is still prone to lapses in pass pro.

Further, I concur that Light has played well. I thought that holding penalty against him last night was marginal at best.

For the record, Cameron Wake has been pretty much making fools of everyone hes played this year. He's a non-factor in the run game, but hes a pretty damn good pass rusher.

Butler is a 2nd year CB not named Revis. Hes doing fine, and is another product of ridiculous expectations. Generally CBs take 2 or 3 years not to look terrible.

People forget, Asante Samuel was getting torched as a nickleback at this point in his career. Bodden didn't start till his 3rd year ON THE BROWNS.

Butler is in a near dead heat footrace with Merriweather...and in my eyes the third year player with a replacement pro bowl nod on his resume remains ahead by a nose.

Unless we have a best MIA pro bowlers injury replacement category, most improved goes to Dan Connelly.

Let me jump on the bandwagon. Vollmer has been good, although maybe not the uber-lineman that we expected. However, to say he's been a disappointment is debatable, and to say he's more of a disappointment than Butler or Merriweather is crazy. Moss has been a much bigger disappointment than Vollmer. You can argue that he has been double teamed, etc., but that is the case throughout his career. He has been very unproductive so far, and he should be more involved considering the other matchup problems caused by Hernandez, Gronkowski, Tate, and a solid running game.
