Well, we cost one guy his job...

That's pretty awful, a LOT of blame has to go onto the players.

Sacrificial lamb. Sparano needs to look in the mirror.

This has been an ongoing problem for them. Four blocked punts this year (including preseason), and a blocked FG. Players obviously not doing the job, but much easier to just can the coach.

Man, I still don't know why, but I can't stand him and dislike him more than Rex. Can wait for this guy to get destroyed again in Foxboro

That's two actually. Trent Edwards got canned the week before for eerily opposite reasons.

Players need to look in the mirror too.

I'll be the first to say it....Can He Rush The Passer?

Chung came in untouched on both blocks. I put that on coaching as the Pats saw something on film to exploit. The kick return was mostly Tate as he had to beat that #50 around the corner and even then had to burst through a tight seam into the clear.

If blocks have been a problem in the preseason, last night's performance indeed reflects overall bad special teams coaching so I don't fault Sporano for canning the guy.

Regards,
Chris

The blocks in previous games were nothing like Chung's blocks though. Chung came in untouched on a stunt in both blocks. It was essentially a situation where there were more rushers inside than blockers.

In the two previous blocks, guys just got ran over. Last night was a scheme thing, the other blocks were just bad players.

We should hire the guy as a one season "consultant". Payback would be a *****...:singing:

OT: Dolphins fire special teams coach John Bonamego

Dolphins ax special teams coach John Bonamego after meltdown - ESPN

DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins fired special teams coordinator John Bonamego on Tuesday, only 12 hours after a calamitous prime-time performance against the New England Patriots.

Special teams cost Miami 21 points in a 41-14 loss Monday night. Two blocked kicks led to touchdowns, and the Patriots returned a kickoff 103 yards for another score.

The Dolphins (2-2) also had a punt blocked a week earlier in a loss to the New York Jets. The back-to-back divisional defeats have dropped Miami to third place in the AFC East.

That was quick. Maybe they should get on their knees and apologize to Westoff, then beg him to come back.

Chung was talking last night about these blocks and saying how this was exactly how it was drawn up. He commented how he was surprised that the holes were there for him, but that coach had seen some things and drew up this defensive play for just this reason. Chung was quick to give credit to his team mates, remarking that if they hadn't done their jobs, he wouldn't have been able to make those plays.

Maybe the Dolphins ST's coach needed to be replaced, but the fault there was equally with Miami's players and their inability to execute consistently. THAT lack of execution was what NE was able to exploit.

respects,
