I dont think I saw him on the field for a single play.
I cant imagine he was benched because he has been playing well.
I know Wilfork was moved to DE to exploit a matchup, but no way G Warren plays almost the whole game and Brace nothing unless something is up.
Even Deadrick was out there, and this was his first ever active NFL game.
Brace didnt even play in mop up duty.
Anyone know?

I was wondering about that too. Never heard is name called or saw him on the field. Maybe it had to do with the scheme? Maybe he got nicked during warm ups? Who knows?

Good question, I have no clue.

I saw him on the sidelines laughing at one point after a score.

He was listed as a starter (I went back to rewatch the first series and see if he was injured)
Something had to happen. He would have at least played ahead of Deadrick, or in garbage time.
He's been playing real well, too.

Well he was still dressed his helmut perched on the top off his head. He didn't look hurt.

He had one tackle. I don't think any of the front guys exactly covered themselves in glory, but I'll take it!

Have you ever seen one of those starting defensive lineups shown by the network ever actually match who's out there for the first play? Probably because of all the situation substitutions -- we're playing an enormous number of different packages this year -- but I wouldn;t put it past Belichick as another of his deception games.

But it *is* a mystery as to why Brace didn't play and Deaderick did...

The listed starting lineup comes from the team. I realize a different package may start the game, but I didnt see Brace on the field for a single play.
Its not just we played a different grouping a lot. Warren played and Brace didnt which belies what we have seen in the first 3 weeks. Deadrick played ahead of him. Wright who hardly played outside of nickel.dime played a good 80% of the base snaps, also ahead of him.
Either he got passed by 3 guys this week, or something odd happened.

My guess is that they wanted experienced players on the defensive line to deal with the Wildcat and any new variants that Miami might have thrown at us. Brace is doing well but his reactions still aren't as good as a player like Wright's, and that split-second gap can be all the difference between tackling them at the line or giving up a 20 yard run.

I really liked what the coaches did with lining Wilfork over their RT (Vernon Carey). It funnelled their running game towards our right side and allowed Mayo, our more experienced ILB, to make all the tackles.

If the official stats have it right, Mayo had 14 solo tackles and 2 assists. That's a great performance. It also shows how effective the coaches' game-plan was for Miami's running game - control which direction they run in, and then position your best linebacker in the right place to make the stops.

Brace has mostly played LDE in the 3-4. Last night, that was Wilfork's position because of the line shuffle, which meant Brace wasn't going to get many snaps - although he did get into the game. When Wilfork goes back to NT, I assume we'll see more of Brace.

Maybe there is more to the story, pulled hamstring or something.. But right now, I think it had to do with Wilfork playing DE.

Actually I recall stating many times saying WIlfork can play DE, like NGATA and make a difference..
