Neither does Arian Foster and look what he's doing to defenses in a past first offense.

Arian Foster went undrafted..

Look at Richardson, he's done just as well as Ingram. Ingram is not worth a top ten pick and I'd be disappointed if a first rounder was used on him.

What makes you think that Jackson is hungrier than Moss? The guy isn't even playing.

I'd love to see the Pats take a shot at Hali, although I don't see Pioli letting him get away.

Arian Foster was UNDRAFTED.

So what does that tell you? Running Backs are dime a dozen and can be had anywhere late in the draft, or even undrafted (Foster, Ryan Grant, Willie Parker, etc).

You're only helping my point by bringing up Foster.

How am I helping your point that "Guys like AP and CJ are game breakers that defenses have to game plan against. I hate to break it to you, but Ingram just doesnt have that type of speed to make defenses focus on him in the NFL." I never dissagreed with your first statement but does that mean that no back is worth a top 10 pick? You made a point about speed, and how unless you have it your can't be an elite back. Go look at Arians time, I bet you Ingram times faster than him. Arian Foster isn't playing like an undrafted running back hes playing like a top 10 talent right now. You should really watch more college football. Running backs aren't dime a dozen if they were we wouldn't be going through so many. My thing is with running backs is you can find value late but that doesn't devalue every running backs status. Mark Ingram is a top 10 talent and he will most likely go top 10 as long as he stays healthy and times the way he should.

Richardson is a top 10 talent as well. Seriously, do you watch SEC football? How does Richardson's success have any bearing on Ingrams tallent?

His success doesn't have any bearing on Ingram's talent, it's just a red flag. You honestly think Ingram / Richardson would be putting up the same numbers behind ECU's offensive line and TEs? Half the backs in college football would look like a top ten talent behind Alabama's current team.

And I only watch the Big Sky along with an occasional contest from the SWAC.

Willis McGahee/Clinton Portis ran behind the same line so no I don't think its a red flag at all. If you watch both play consistently, you will see why both are two of the top backs in the nation. ECU doesn't play top teams week in and week out so yes I think they would both put up great numbers behind that line. Would Adrian Peterson? Adrian Peterson played behind a good line and he plays behind one of the best lines in football right now but nobody takes that away from his ability. Chester Taylor looked good behind the same oline but Chester Taylor doesn't look like Adrian Peterson just like nobody would look like Richardson and Ingram.

Everyone has a POV about Ingram but we should all agree on three facts

1. Running backs typically have a short life in the NFL
2. Patriots are a Pass 1st team
3. Our defense needs and impact player

That #1 pick should go to a defensive position unless some LT like Pace/Ogden is there..

Typically team don't have 1 RB shoulder the load..

Willis McGahee and Clinton Portis weren't worth 1st round picks.

The Emmitt Smith/Mark Ingram comparison is actually a pretty good one. The one knock on Emmitt coming out was his speed. The one knock on Ingram is his speed. Almost the exact some height and weight. The only area that he really needs to work on is pass protection, but that's the same for any back coming into the nfl.

If you don't think RB is worth a 1st rounder then that's cool, but Ingram looks every bit a 1,500 yard back

Even if that's true the shelf life of most modern day running backs means he'll have a few 1,500 yard seasons then fall off a cliff.
