How did an A (offense) and a B+ (defense) average out to a B overall?

Did special teams get a C- ?

The one I watched certainly didn't have a Pats defense that rated just under "excellent"

That's actually exactly what happened... he said so in the description paragraph.

Very generous grade for the defense. Even with my optimism regarding adjustments, turnovers in big spots, etc, I'd only give them a C+.

Yeah, that's nuts. I can see giving the defense a C+ for coming up big at the end, but that was not an above-average defensive performance.

A C- for ST with Zoltan's short punts, average returns, and the TD is overly kind, as well. C- would work if they tackled Spiller at midfield. As it is, they get a D or maybe a D+ if you want to give them credit for being sufficiently alert for that bone-headed onside kick.

Whoops, completely missed that, I must have lost focus half way through that article. But I agree with you, B+ was very generous for the way our defense played. However, he makes a fair point in that the ST played even worse than the defense, which hasn't really been discussed much here.

Agreed. Not only that, but our returns were pretty minimal as well. The only good part of special teams is that Gost didn't miss his one field goal.

I usually agree with Grogan's grades; his grade for the defense, however, is way, way, way too generous.

Offense: A

"Defense"(snicker): D- -
If not for the 2 picks, this grade would be an F.

STs: C-
Ghost gets a little redemption, but the coverage sucked, and if the Zoltan can't boom his punts in September, then he'll look Ken Walter-esque by December.
