All the Patriots cuts merged mega thread

I hope to god Matthew Slater isnt on this team , guy missed all of TC, and does nothing when he does play

Hard to believe Buddy Farnham would make the team. I know he is a great story and is real versatile, but they already cut him a few weeks ago before bringing him back. Why take the chance of losing him earlier in the summer if they keep him? Either he wowed them upon his return, or he is a goner as well.

Chris Taylor is another one. He has to go, right?

They are probably going to cut below 53 to bring in a OLB and OL.

Hartwig got cut by the Steelers. I wonder if BB & Co. will take a look at him, given the state of this team's O-line.

This was announced? If so another great cut!

Yes it was announced.. But there is NOTHING great about the cuts.. These are guys who are losing their jobs.. No one should say they are happy or that it's great.. That's just disgusting.

I had Aiken as a possibility.. and even more so when Chung became the Personal Protector on the Punt Coverage Unit.

Are you Rapoport? That is basically what he just tweeted

I realize the value of special teams players, but there comes a time when we were wasting far to many precious roster spots on mere special teams guys who had absolutely no chance of helping anywhere else, but ST. It's good to see BB do a little needed house cleaning.

Re: Sam Aiken Gone too

Not surprising. The guy isn't a receiver and there are too many guys who can contribute on offense or defense and special teams. Can't carry too many special teams specialists when this team has some depth and even starter concerns.

Clearly you don't follow the Pats. Slater is on all 6 Special Team units. He is an average kick return man and an average punt return guy.. He's also young, cheap and one of the better special teams guys..

Re: Sam Aiken Gone too

RapSheet The Patriots have released Sam Aiken, I'm told. Wow.
2 minutes ago via TweetDeck

Something has gotta give, gunna be a couple acquisitions of a couple real surprises on the final roster.. I just hope Matt Slater doesnt take this spot
I just check it and he says nothing about Aiken.

this is his last entry:

RT @Adam_Schefter: Hmmm: Patriots will be releasing LB Derrick Burgess today.

Please show where he posted that Aiken was released.

Rapoport's really killing it today: tweeting that Aiken's out. Looks like Slater's safe and Jenkins is headed for the PS.

Get slater out of here and the WR core is done.

EDIT: Could Farnham actually make the 53 :O

I can't say I'd be surprised if Farnham gets cut, but I was very impressed with him when I watched him practice and from what I saw in pre-season. He plays hard and made some nice catches. I don't know if he can pull off a Troy Brown-like two-way move and play DB like he did against the Giants, but I'm sure his versatility hasn't hurt him.

Good luck to Aiken.

Getting Young and Fast.

I like it.

Randy and Wes can step up as the veterans of the Receiving sets, with Alge and Brady there to be leaders as well.

That's the thing, though: in the minds of most fans, returns are 1-on-11.

Not sure yet that those spots are being taken off of ST- could be just getting younger at the ST-only spots. Guys like Arrington and Brown taking the spots that Woods, Alexander, Aiken had.

Yeah, ok! It's a business, and if there are more deserving players on the team I root for you're damn right I'm going to be happy when the less deserving go! Sorry if you don't like it, but that's the way it is!

Aiken gone.

Called this months ago.
I would not be surprised to see him back..the special teams really will suffer without a vet ST player..NOTHING good so far about that..

Re: Sam Aiken Gone too

So who's the ST captain now?
