All marketing by the NFL and Vikings. Brilliant job manufacturing this drama for yet another season.

Seriously, it is pathetic how Favre has to make his return into a huge event and how ESPN follows his ego trip year after year. Seriously, has any player had more drama around his return to a team year after year as Favre.

One of the few guys I'd like to see go down in their season opener.
As much as I hate to see any player get injured, including Jets players (but not their head coach) I find it quite difficult to not agree with youl

You two should **** off and join the Jets boards or some other board full of scum that will have you. You don't deserve to have the right to post on here.

I was flicking through the channels and saw a picture of lord farve standing on a corner in Minn. i guess, his minions must be wetting their pants. As for the coverage pathetically disgusting.

"As the massive crowd of ESPN reporters gathered at the Vatican aerodrome in Minnesota.....a small child in a manger, nearby, was the first to see the white smoke trailing from the chimney of the blocking sled, which signaled the arrival of the "ONE"

"Il Papa,Il Papa"......the cherubic child exclaimed as Brett the Saviour gently landed upon gossamer wings........all who were there were rendered speechless........all except for the visogoth warlord.......Rex the Incredibly Obese, who noted:

"He might be a F-in Pope,but he's not F-in Darrelle Revis"

"The Vatican Aerodome."

Very expected, Favre, much like our very own Derrick Burgess just wanted to skip camp like in every year... can the Vikes win it all this year? doubtful, but they now have the talent.

Will ESPN make this a squeakquel to the LeBron show?

Tedy Bruschi: 'I've lost respect' for the Vikings if they begged Brett Favre to play - The Huddle: Football News from the NFL - USATODAY.com

"To go down there and beg, that means Brett Favre might have had doubt in his mind," Bruschi added. "Maybe that ankle's not good. But if it took three teammates to go down and try to convince him? I don't like what I'm hearing."

Bruschi also asserted that this scenario never would have occurred with the Patriots, who won three Super Bowls with Brady at the helm between 2001 and 2004.

"This would not happen in New England because they have a head coach that knows how to handle things like this," Bruschi said, referring to Patriots head coach Bill Belichick while panning Minnesota's Brad Childress.

Last time the HC had grovel and pick the diva up at the airport. This time they had to dispatch a pair of linemen to Kiln to beg him to come back. Next year they'll probably have to mobilize the Minnesota National Guard to drag him in.

Next year the Minnesota Legislature will have to pass a law saying that whole Civil War thing was a mistake and the South actually won. Then Favre can ride in on his horse like Stonewall Jackson.

I can see it now... Jared Allen tackles Favre then has Steve Hutchinson sit on him while Ryan Longwell kicks him until he says yes and gets on the plane.

In reality however all three got on their knees begging but the best part will be tonight when Favre gets a visit from you know who..

So who's planning to take a drink every time they say "gunslinger"?

What? I need a reason to drink? Is this one of those epiphany things?

Re: OT: After meeting with Vikings trio, Favre has boarded a plane headed north.

Favre? Don't believe I've heard of him.

Some old guy. Usta play. Before your time. An INT machine.

I didn't think there was any love lost between Bruschi and Chilly Willy before this. Now? Definitely not. What a slam.

Bruschi and Brady seem to take a different approach here.

Q: Did you get any reaction from Tom Brady? Obviously he’s a guy you saw come in at 23 years old and now he’s a worldwide superstar…
DP: Naturally, he tried to talk me out of it because he’s a major reason why I decided to even come back and give it a shot here because he thought that I could still play. He still had the confidence in me. That was part of the reason why I didn’t talk to him prior to me making this decision because I kind of thought that he would try to talk me out of it.

It Is What It Is Complete transcript of David Patten’s retirement press conference

This earns a large wgaf

Favre's stats in his last game of each of the past 9 seasons:

2001-2002 - 6 Int in divisional round loss
2002-2003 - 2 int in home wildcard loss
2003-2004 - last throw was interception to set up Philly to win ("And with one desperation heave, Brett Favre threw away Green Bay’s chance at another Super Bowl.")
2004-2005 - 4 ints in home wildcard loss to vikings
2005-2006 - no playoffs, no chance to get into playoffs in last game
2006-2007 - no playoffs, no chance to get into playoffs in last game
2007-2008 - 2 ints in loss to giants. in OT - 14:04 C. Webster intercepted B. Favre for 9 yards - Giants score to win off this turnover
2008-2009 - nothing to play for but pride, Favre throws Int on Miami's 29 yard line on drive to tie game
2009-2010 - Pick on NO's 38 yard line with chance to win the game in regulation

If the game matters, Brett Favre is perhaps the worst qb in the NFL.
