Boston Celtics NBA Finals Thread

kobe's looking a little jordan-ish tonight, but it doesn't look like either team is realy taking control

huge 4th qtr here for the celts chances going forward

they dont like they are winning this game. At least bryant is really getting hot with his shooting and for the celtics is literally no one...and to repeat, no bynum and fisher has 4 fouls...
Couple that with Bard just blowing a save against the spastic Indians and I'm a real happy camper atm.

This problem has punctuated our play this series. Dumb basketball. Just play the process and get it to Pierce who was hot early. We got away from that when it was working.

well..the score is just 2 pt differential but the way bryant is playing..it looks like a 10 pt lead..they are just plain wastiing a decent defensive performance here...to be very honest, they look done @ the moment.Damn pierce's prediction may actually come true the wrong way if he doesnt do something special now...

Epic performance by Big Baby to start the fourth. That's team lifting material.

Well we are hot right now. The Celtics have to kill off the Lakers right now. The ball is rolling our way for the first time tonight.

Thanks to the fourth quarters of Glen Davis, Nate Robinson and Paul Pierce down the stretch.

Davis even fought hard in the paint in the end of the 3rd quarter. Somehow they won but dont look like team to beat frankly....Lets see if they actually get it together in game 5.

I agree. The Lakers look like they are the team to beat and we're scrapping to stay in it. Game 5 is a must win for the Celtics.

We've got to shutdown one of Bryant or Gasol. The Lakers aren't getting much else consistently from anyone else.

well as kenny smith just said, the celtics beat the 2008 team tonite.Without bynum the celtics shouldve made it much easier on themselves..Bynum makes a big difference in easy dunks and rebounds.
Iam not sure even the celtics know what their game plan is so far.

Now rasheed wallace is also at 7 Tech
The need to go back to establishing rondo and ray allen needs to come back after 2 dismal games.

You've nailed it in that the Celtics need to go back to playing smart basketball. When they play smart everything else takes care of itself.

lets see bynum's effectiveness on sunday. With an extra day's rest it could be huge for the lakers.

Make him run around when he is on the court. No meniscal tear and subsequent inflammation will enjoy that.

Two things, one I think more importantly is that those Celtic starters got a LOT of rest last night, and possibly could see more bench time if the subs play decent on Sunday. The other thing, I think Bynum is having an easier time playing due to Perkin's T problem. Perkins is a very physical player and will tussle with an opponent all game long. Now, its like he's playing with five fouls.
.................as much as I dislike Kobe...........WTF?

Very very true - he was very impressive and I think every Celtics fan - though they might think he's a turd - has an immense amount of respect for his game (Tom Brady understandably does)

Even though those clutch 3 pointers were killing us, as a basketball fan you really had to appreciate what you were watching

I still felt all game that the Celtics would close it out with swarming defense to carry the day and that's what happened.

Game 5 couldn't be bigger - it might as well be Game 7

Whoever wins Game 5 I expect will win the series.

That's good news for the Celts - home court, plus you have to think that most or all of our Big Four are due for a Big Game - and they'll dig deep to give what they have in the last home court game of the season.

Leaving Boston with a Win, there are few who wouldn't feel confident of the Celts taking one of two in LA

Leaving with a loss there are few who would feel confident of the Celts taking two straight games in LA

Game 5 couldn't be bigger.

True.

Its a 3 game series now, and the Lakers have two games at home. Game 5 is an absolute MUST win for us.

We need Rondo to re-assert himself and take control of this team. Particularly if Bynum is out and LA's interior defense is weakened, he needs to get back to his aggressive play that won us the Cavs series.

I still think, as I have said for about 3 years now, that this team will go as Rondo goes. Isolation plays to Paul Pierce cannot and will not cut it. Ray's shot will come and go. KG's game will come and go. It's up to Rondo to be The Constant, an aggressive driving force who opens up the game for others.

If he does that in Game 5, we'll win - and we'll carry the momentum through and probably close out in Game 6.

If he doesn't, this series will continue to be a grind...and it could go either way.

Luckily Bynum is hobbled. Him being out of the game more often will make it easier to focus on Gasol.

Not hearing it talked about much but no Bynum is pretty much how we dominated and won in 2008.

I like the kid and he's a game changer for sure.

At 22 I think he would be foolish to risk his career ... cartilage can be shaved but not replaced ... if he's tearing more then he's shortening his career.

Kobe has 5 rings ... he doesn't need another.

That and secondary contributors off the bench like House and Posey.
