Michael Dumbardi, Jets have had plenty of more success over the Pats for a couple seasons now when it comes to the draft. Besides Ghostman they have had an excellent number of picks.

I love Mike Lombardi's articles but his judgement seems to have been appalling at times.

Who was your favorite first or second round LB taken by the Jets? Gholston, Vilma or Hobson? Or second rounder for Mike Nugent? Oh, maybe Dwayne Robertson, who they gave up 2 firsts and a fourth to draft?

Yeah, the Jets have been awesome

There were plenty of teams that passed on Sapp in that draft that shouldn't have. Without the news of failed drug tests at the University of Miami, Sapp would have been at worst a top five pick. In fact Tampa Bay themselves passed on him at #7, trading down and then picking him at #12.

If one thing can be learned from Sapp and that draft, it's better to look at production rather than measureables and potential. Sapp was a great player in college, he should have never fell that far in that draft.

what are the measurables he shouldn't have been drafted by --- drug test score?

How in the hell is Mark Sanchez a "touchdown"?? Dude was pretty much the worst QB in the league last year while playing in a very good team.

Name them.

Bucky obviously did his piece before the jury verdict came in on the liklihood of Ginn ever establishing himself as a #1...

Funny he sees Edleman as a HR but Butler and Vollmer just warrant mention among the other potential solid finds...

And to be fair these marks should be craded on a curve...relative to where each team was picking and why... Bill never botches a top ten...And those are the botches that will really impact you. Sometimes there are fewer than a dozen legit first rounders available and teams selecting in the bottom third either reach or trade out. Imagine if we hadn't lost that second first in 2008 we traded for in 2007...

And I wouldn't be so quick to carve HR busts for Henne let alone the Sanchise...

To be fair, instead of taking Sapp they traded down with SF and picked up a #1 in the following draft. That #1 was used by the Ravens to take Ray Lewis, so it kind of worked out. Of course, Belichick and Lombardi were both fired by then.

Name them.

Come on dude, the Jets have drafted very well over the last 3/4 years.

I can't stand them as much as the next guy, but they have done a very solid job.

Name them.

I'll name them for you.

Darrelle Revis
D'Brickashaw Ferguson
Dustin Keller
Nick Mangold
David Harris
Shonn Greene

I won't call Sanchez either way yet.

You can probably add Chansi Stuckey (although he was traded away), Brad Smith and certainly Leon Washington to that.

Tennenbaum has done a remarkable job at drafting, only second to Polian at this point...Belichick is missing Pioli and Dimitroff and those guys really helped

I think the Pats would have good as Jets draft if they picked top 16 every year.

I give the Jets credit for going up and getting a player they like. ie: Sanchez and Greene.

I know BB does that occasionally as well. ie: Jackson,Warren. But the Jets seem to have executed that strategy much better than BB.

Tannenbaum is a cap and contracts GM. He's never scouted. Credit for those picks goes to the HC's and his predecessor who still consults on player personnel decisions. Not to mention luck of the draw (draft position).

Dimetroff and Pioli were here in 2006-2007/8. The best draft we've had in a couple of years was 2009 when Bill was essentially flying solo...
