Being the first team in NFL history to have the best record in their division for nine years in a row.

The Dolphins won the division 2 years ago./thread

They had the same record as we did, thus, not taking into account tie-brakers, we had the best record in the division.

if we both had the same record, how was our record better than theirs?

Or the Jets' and Dolphins' in 2002 when we lost the Div to a tiebreaker?

Well, if the Pats and Dolphins both finish 11-5 and that is the best record in the division. The Pats still have the best record in the division that year. They just share that honor with the Dolphins.

The OP didn't say the Pats won the division 9 times in a role or were the sole holders of the best record in the division 9 years in a row. So technically he/she was correct. Personally, of the all the records the Pats have held over the last decade, I would put this very low on the totem pole.

It's neat I suppose, but it ultimately sounds like something the Colts would celebrate.

If I scored 100 on a test, I would have "the best" score on the test.

It isn't, but that's not relevant.

My goodness, you Patriot fans are grasping at straws....... How can a fan base go from celebrating three tainted championships to consecutive division records? It's almost sad.

And yet you apparently spend chunks of your day lingering in an opposing team's forum. That's both pathetic and sad (no 'almost' to that conclusion). If you followed a real team, you probably would spend your time in that team's forum yet here you are.

Shame on us.

We should be celebrating that "near AFC Championship" you touted, Jets fan.

No one has had a better record in the division than the Pats.

They either won the division outright or lost on a tie breaker.

Quite an accomplishment, though one only homers would think cool. "Objective" posters would point out that that Pats have sucked over the last ten years.

He didn't say it was better than the Jets or Phins in 2002. He said they had the best record in 2002. 9-7 was the best record in 2002. Interestly, IIRC, the Bills finished 8-8 but if they went 9-7 the Pats would have won the 4-way tie. I forget why, though.

nice sentiment and your heart is in the right place, but the stat is meaningless unless it signifies that for those nine years no team had as good a record. the dolphins had the same record in 2008 and had a "better" record on the tiebreaker.

these guys have accomplished enough without our having to make up new "records" for them.

But.. But... Wait! Aren't you a Patriots' fan? For your first 30 or so posts, you referred to the Pats as "us" and denied being a Jets fan. Boy you really had me duped! Personally, if you asked me what posters on this board were Jets or Dolphins fans posing as a Pats fan trolling on this board, you would be the last guy I would have thought was a Jets troll.

Kudos to you! You clearly are a mental giant because you deftly hid the fact you were a Jets fans with stealth shots at the Pats that clearly turned this board in your direction. We should all take the time to bow to your genius.
