I was REALLY tempted to vote YES and Dez does intrigue me. In the end I voted NO, though, partly because of the character/intelligence issues but also because he's not running like a stud WR, I know Fitzgerald doesn't either but it is an additional negative. If Dez were blasting out 4.40s I may have voted differently.

I want defense, offense is fun to watch but defense wins championships.

There's been some awfully good offenses winning SBs recently, I don't buy into those one liners.

I would definitely take him at #22

Spiller or Matthews will be taken in the first round.....boom

I voted yes based on the assumption that the Pats would have done their homework on him. I'm sure there has been a few, but off the top of my head I can't think of any legitimate "problem child" types drafted by the Patriots since Bill took over.

Yes, but only if we put his locker next to Randy's and tell Dez to fall in line. I think he could be dynamite in this offense, and there's no question he's a top-five talent. Part of me wants to trade back, acquire picks next year, and hope some of the lesser heralded players step up and produce, but Bryant is so incredibly talented. Watching him move on the field vs drills is incredible. He's not a workout warrior at all--just the opposite. On the field he's smooth, powerful, decisive, and fast, and I like the way he goes up after the ball and then explodes toward the endzone. He runs really hard for a WR, and I have no problem labeling him a Fitzgerald/Marshall type of superstar.

The question, of course, is which one we're getting off the field. And that I have no idea.

Hey now, you're slipping around the question. It's would YOU take Bryant at #22. So IBBWT doesn't apply.

For me, I'm always, always skittish about drafting WRs in round 1. The projection is just too unpredictable. Now throw in some major question marks on maturity and intelligence ("football IQ" as well as the Wonderlic kind)...I just don't think I could pull the trigger.

I was tempted also but I went with NO because he seems to have too much Plaxico in him. The great player but bad teammate Plaxico. I want inclusive players. Would Dez be a team player? OTOH, if we draft him I will get excited anyway.

Who..... the Rams and Indy are the only ones i can think of.

The Saints had the #1 scoring offense and the #20 scoring defense.
In 2004 had a good scoring defense but were #4 in scoring offense also.

And even though we didn't win in 2007, I would put a ton of money on that kind of offense even though we ended up not winning. I think your argument is flawed but even with it, we would still have three #2s for defense.

The Saints?
Not to mention that the Saints' opponent had a pretty good offense too. And the team the Saints beat in the NFCCG had the second best scoring offense in the league.

The Patriots against Carolina.

Our defense gave up 29 points in 31 minutes.

Our passing game (not our running game, that's for sure) saved the day as Brady set records and Deion Branch ran wild.

Without a mind boggling great day from the great offense, Patriots don't win that Super Bowl.

2001 and 2004 credit go to the defense mostly. They shut down the Rams and Eagles, though Brady was great in the Eagles game as well.

Would I take him at 22? Yes, without a doubt. Does it depend on who else is left? Yes!

I voted yes because there are few players who will be available at #22 who are greatly different than what will be available in the 2nd round. I'm not sold on Williams or Golden Taint either.

they have a good defense too
Their scoring defense was 20th. Yes, they turned some turnovers into points - especially early in the season - but they were 20th in points allowed. The Patriots defense was 5th in points allowed.
