Todd "swamp chicken" Collins! excellent answer......wish he would have shoved Kordell out of bounds in that playoff game though.

How bout.....Jermaine Wiggins?

Shawn Jefferson did'nt get the credit he deserved either.

BOBBY HAMILTON

Bingo Bobby Hamilton (and remember him with Anthony Pleasant-together as a tandem):

Hamilton led the Patriots with a career-high seven sacks in 2001.

Hamilton teamed with Anthony Pleasant for 13 sacks (seven and six, respectively) in 2001. It was the highest sack total by a Patriots defensive line tandem since defensive ends Brent Williams (8.0) and Gary Jeter (7.0) totaled 15 in 1989.

Hamilton was part of a Patriots defense that limited opponents to an average of 17.0 points per game in 2001. It was the third lowest total in franchise history and the lowest during a 16-game season.

Hamilton was credited with 10 tackles, including one sack during the 2001 postseason.

Hamilton led all NFL defensive lineman during the 2000 season with 79 tackles (based on league-wide press box statistics).

Amassed a season-high with 10 tackles against the N.Y. Jets (10/15/00).

Jabar Gaffney. Sure wish we still had him.

I was a huge fan of Chris Slade.
Mike Compton did some job when he came here too and Antowain Smith although he was a first rounder so I suppose he doesn't really count.

Of those still playing in the league it would have to be Daniel Graham.

Guess "unsung" has strange meaing for posters here...Coates!? Vrable?! McGuinest!!!

Me, I miss Christian Fauria, always there for a catch to move the sticks.
Antowain Smith didn't do too badly geting us the yards in key situations leading to 2 rings.

Well, Willie is unsung enough for you to reapetedly misspell his name for the last five years

One guy we really missed the year right after he left and nobody seems to ever remember him was Brandon Mitchell

Jabar Gaffney. Was very upset when we let him go and brought in Galloway. He just had a knack for making plays at opportune times.

I don't know if Colvin could be considered unsung, but I definitely miss him too. I loved the attitude he played with and loved him making fun of Merriman and the Lights Out dance.

Yeah like that dropped pass of a certain TD against the Colts that cost us the game and the playoffs in '08.

How about Tyrone Poole? It's kind of a shame that his contributions in 2001 aren't really remembered.

Yeah like that dropped pass of a certain TD against the Colts that cost us the game and the playoffs in '08.

everyone makes mistakes, in 2005 Denion Branch false starts on a first and goal from Denver's 5, on the next play, David Givens lets a ball go threw his hands on a quick out, then Ben Watson misses a block & Tom Brady throws the pick six to Champ Bailey on the next play. We could also mention the Troy Brown running the wrong route in the '06 AFCCG that could of resulted in a first down and game over in our favor. And then Assante Samual giving up on his man Tyre in the play and game not to be mentioned.

so yah guys makes mistakes and cost us game and potentionally SB rings if one looks at it in a certian way, in '05 if we punch that ball in as opposed to Champ Bailey's "pick six" its a `14 point turnaround and we go ahead, put the pressure on Denver to have to comeback, if we win, we host Pitt and then onto the SB against Seattle, maybe we make a nice run. In '06 we essentially seal the deal, but could not thanks to H. Evans 12th man in the huddle and Troy Brown's aforementioned wrong route. And in '07 maybe we are 19-0.

So each year '05-'07 we had our key players make mistakes, but it doesn't take away from the fact that those same players have made some key plays for us. the same is true for Jabar Gaffney, not the best WR, and had his share of opps moments, but overall he made several key plays for us

in fact, Jabar was one of the players that I was thinking of as unsung. Along with Antwain Smith.

I knew someone would bring that up. Yeah, let's hold one play against him and let it tarnish his whole career as a Patriot.

What about the game winning TD catch in 07 vs the Ravens to preserve the perfect season? Beautiful catch, held onto the ball, got both feet in bounds in the face of tremendous pressure.

Artrell Hawkins was the man, whenever Rodney would go down they would always bring Hawkins back on the team, always did a good job.

I also miss Vinny T cos the the players always went nuts when he got his yearly TD

Really good offseason thread in all aspects. Nice memories.

There was a major attitude shift when Bryan Cox came to this team... a hard edge that the team kept long after he was gone but which seems to be fading now.

We need a new Bryan Cox.

i agree, having jabar last season would have made this an infinitely better offense

Hart Lee Dykes and Eugene Chung. A blazing fast receiver and offensive line powerhouse.
