Let's play a game: Unsung Patriot I miss...

I miss Joe Andruzzi and Mike Compton. They were two of the reasons that Smith ran so well.

Daniel Graham. As much praise as he gets for his blocking, I think it's impact may have been a little underrated.

Vincent Brown

And of course (though not totally unsung, but for much of his career)
Troy Brown.

Someone took my answer, Chris Slade. I wore #53 in high school because of him.

Keith Byars is probably my choice after some of the names already mentioned here, though he only played for a couple seasons in Foxboro. He was a great blocker and put up a nnice performance in SB31.

From the Bledsoe days I really miss Sam Gash and Chris Slade (still have my jersey!)

Hamilton and Edwards from the Super Bowl era.

I missed Andruzzi too. He was always the first to help a player off the ground. Class all the way.

Oh, Gash is a good choice.

I watched the Three Games to Glory DVD again a couple of months ago, and I was struck by how good the Patriots linebackers were. If you could have put the 2001 linebackers on the 2009 team, there would be another Lombardi Foxborough right now. Sorry, BB, but that's on you.

Off the top of my head:

-Can't remember who it was that recovered Troy Brown's fumble on his last PR in the snow bowl... one of the long list of plays that could have ended that game and our season

Larry Izzo

And I'll add a vote for Ted Johnson.

David Givens

Anyone miss Tom Ashworth?

I really loved his play years ago and when he was sent to Seattle I missed the guy on the OL

Tom is probably done with football as he was cut by the Hawks in 2008,but he was still a pretty good player on that line like Andruzzi and Woody back then - I always like Hochstein as well.

I'm going to go with Rob Holmberg. If I remember correctly, he was friends with Brady and was Tara Reid's bodyguard/escort to games during the 2002 season. The guy had to hold her ashtray while she smoked and her hair back while she pukes at games so Brady wouldn't have to worry about her while playing.

If that isn't an unsung hero, I don't know what is. Imagine actually having to put up with with Tara Reid in a platonic relationship? Granted a platonic relationship with her opposed to the other kind would save you in a trip or two to the doctors and several prescriptions of Pennicillin.

Mike Compton
J.R. Redmond
Tom Ashworth
Rosevlt Colvin

Heath Evans.

Grahambo and his wham blocks.
And the rest of his blocking.

Someone mentionned Atrell Hawkins. I liked him too (minus the "goings-on2 after he left).

I also miss R. Phifer. A LB corps with Johnson, Bruschi, Vrabel, McG, Phifer AND Colvin ! Yikes ! Wish they were ALL back on their prime years in Foxborough...

Sam Gash and Tom Tupa
