He's also almost a full year younger than Jermaine and it's not as though Heap is completely washed up. So he'll have time to develop.

Thoughts on my pick?

I think Gresham was the best talent on the board. He slipped from the middle of the 1st to the late 1st due to an injury, which he should be completely recovered from by the time the season starts.

Ideally I would have liked a lb to replace Dansby but I did not have a linebacker graded this highly on our board and the I don't reach for positional needs.

Gresham will help develop Lienhart, by giving him a security blanket. Lienhart's problems are arm strength and decision making. Jermaine will help by getting open in the short middle of the field so Lienhart knows he can always go there if he is pressured.

Boldin is a great big possession red zone target. The Cardinals need to fill that hole. With Boldin and Warner gone I think the Cards will move more towards the run with Beenie Wells and come out in less spread sets than last year. For a team that is stressing running the ball a tight end becomes more vital by keeping the defense honest in run sets.

I chose Terrence Cody at #28 for a few reasons.

1. He is HUGE. The Chargers run the 3-4, and with Jamal Williams gone to the Broncos, this solidifies their NT position.

2. The Chargers are going to need a back to get 15-20 touches with Sproles getting a few. Jahvid Best isn't that. Factor that in by being one of the worst pass blocking RBs, SD passes on him.

3. The Chargers have the #40 overall pick, so a top 5 back should still be there.

As much as I dont like Cody I think the pick makes sense for the chargers

I like the position and your reasoning behind finding a back in rd2. Cody however, does'nt really fit their style or idea of the 34. They penetrate and play off the A gap more than straight head up. So I wonder if a guy like Williams from Tenn. would have been a good fit. Either way it's your pick so Cody it is.

I'm really glad you picked a NT. It's possible that they would have chosen Dan Williams over Cody (as alvinnf says), but it doesn't matter much in a mock draft game.

Either way, it's a very clear need for them - especially with their bad defense last year.

Dan Williams would've been a better fit, but he was taken #15.

RANDOM: I'm wondering how far Tebow will fall in this draft. Most people on this forum hate him.

Probably not past the third round. Would be my guess. I don't think he is going to pan out in the league though. But if he lands in the right situation he'll have a better chance to survive. Arizona comes to mind. They have a young QB who needs to play but has'nt proved himself yet. So putting in packages for Tebow and taking snaps from leinart would'nt be that tough to swallow.

If you really want to know, I had Arizona taking Devin McCourty here. Their secondary got scorched in the playoffs and their corner play is weak. Boldin is really not a big loss for them because they have Breaston ready to step up in his place.

You'll probably be able to get a decent corner in round 2 but I don't know if a CB the quality of McCourty will last till the Cards' pick there.

Voting for the Jets pick can start I guess.

It pains me to say,but I vote Golden Tate.

Also, in the mock thread, the chargers have #40,not the hawks. The trade for that 3rd string QB.

I vote Golden Tate as well. We are past the deadline now.

Ok GM's I need your help and if you're online please vote so we can keep this draft on schedule.

Me too- Tate's a good choice for them.

BTW, I'm going to have to PM my pick to someone. I'll do the PM tomorrow at 3am Eastern if that's OK. I'm due to pick at 12pm Eastern, but that's 5pm here and I'll still be at work.

Can I just check the time on the East Coast at the moment? If he's not picking until 6pm, doesn't he have half an hour left, or have you put the clocks forward already?

Are people forgetting about Pierre-Paul, or am I missing where he went?

Jets don't deserve Golden Tate. Give em Demaryius Thomas instead. He could be the next Vernon Gholston, that's more their style.

He went to the Jags. As I predicted in my post-combine mock!

I would have picked Damien Williams due to the rapport Sanchez already had with him, but Tate probably has more upside. I'll go with the consensus. Scary. They could actually be good with Tate. . . .
