Trading up to 11?

The one player I would trade up for is Eric Berry. Should he magically slide to 10 or 11 (rigggght) I'd be all for it.

I imagine Belichick would be too, if the comparisons to Ed Reed are valid, regardless of our depth at the position.

He will be the best player coming out of this draft IMO.

If the Patriots already were picking at 10 or 11, I could see it. But I can't see them trading up to get Berry, even if he were to slide that far.

I don't see anybody likely to be available at #10-11 I'd trade up for. If a Suh or Berry slides, that's different -- but then there would be plenty of competition to trade up. Maybe, just maybe Trent Williams?

I love the 2nd-3rd rounds of this draft, though. If a modest trade down from 22 would net a 3rd, I'd be all for it.

Exactly my feelings as well.

I'm sensing the pickings are slim if NE remains at #22, and the same applies to those NE would trade up for. I'd speculate to say that Suh, Berry, and McClain are the only ones BB would be interested in, with the first two being way out of reach, while McClain's health issues may dictate a slide (or not ).

My preference is to hope on Odrick at #22 -- or trade down netting that missing 3rd-rounder.

If we can trade 22 and 44 for 10 or 11, why does it matter which we have now? If Berry is there at 10 or 11 and we can make the trade, we are in the same position as if we had the 10 or 11 initially (presuming that someone else were ready to trade 22 and 44 to us in this hypothetical).

Personally, I would not trade 22 and 44 for a safety, but that's me. I would find Haden more interesting.

In fact I'm not sure I can think of a SB champion within the last decade that didn't have a very good to great safety on their defense - Harrison, Polamalu, Sanders etc. (not sure who Ravens safety was when they won it, but probably a stud).

If he fell to 10 or 11 I think you have to at least try. As Ochmed said, the kid is just a playmaker and that is what this team is lacking.

Even if we were drafting for a CB I would be more inclined to take Berry over Haden should they both be available at a spot we trade up to. Haden's weak 40 time along with Florida's great pass rush worry me a little with him. Berry is a far more dynamic player IMO than is Haden.

I think it really depends on what the cost is. I would be thrilled with a haul of Eric Berry and whatever our other 2 2nd rounders netted us. So long as it took #22 and a 2nd rounder, I say welcome to the Patriots, dynamic, play-making safety of the future Mr. Berry .

BTW No, I would NOT trade up to #10 for a safety - whether that be Berry or Holmes. Much rather trade back and get more picks.

Berry is awesome, no doubt about that but I'm not sure it would be worth it for us to trade up to get him given how many holes we have. While I might be incorrect I think "impact" players usually have a solid group of guys around them which allows them to be impact players, ex. Brady took off when he had a solid line and stud WRs.

Well, since we're dreaming, I'd definitely trade up to #11 for Okung. If there's a guy in this draft who's going to be giving a speech wearing a yellow jacket someday, it's him.

Oh, and I'd like a pony.

I might consider trading up to the 15-16 range for Morgan, but if I had my way, I'd do a trade back to about #28, draft Hughes, and get a 3rd rounder.
