This guy must be the village idiot on this site that no one takes seriously. It has to be the only explanation.

Mason
Patten
Moss (Another year older)

Good times.

Are we talking football teams or retirement homes

I am unsure

If you really think Derrick Mason and Joey Galloway are at all similar players, well... then I guess there's no helping you. Were you by chance a Patriots fan in 2001 and 2003?

Then again, you also think Cromartie is the bee's knees, so I take that as a sure sign that we'll never agree when it comes to player evaluation.

Mason also retired last summer and had to be lured back to play one more year.

Honestly, can we talk about the free agents or biach about the pats, instead of insulting and biaching eachother. Everyone argues and insults eachother on this forum.

People disagree, Jack thinks Mason will help and you think he's a bum. I think Mason would be a vast upgrade over Aiken.

What was the Patriots WR corps on the first day of free agency in 2007?

Oh...that's right :bricks:

Actually, it'd be:

Moss
Mason
Edelman
Tate/Patten/FA/draft pick

That is, until Welker comes back.

Regardless of all that, are you disputing the assertion that Mason is a better receiving option than Aiken? If you aren't, then you've already lost the argument, and it's time you scurried along.

Galloway was always about speed and gaining separation to be DB's, Mason seems more of better route runner and understanding of zone concepts like where to sit in a zone and be on the same page as the QB, something Galloway never could do in NE.

Yeah great. Let's sign another guy in the waning years of his career for 1 year. It worked out so great with Galloway. I want a young legit weapon across from Moss, not a guy at the end of the line who has been considering retirement the past two seasons.

Your logic is that b/c Galloway failed, all other proven WRs over 35 are going to be busts as well? Brilliant.

Anyone who saw Mason play last year knows the guy can still ball. He pretty much owned us, as the Ravens only option at WR.

Granted, I only see him as a piece of the puzzle, but anyone downplaying the significance of his addition is daffy. These are the same clowns whom I'm sure chortled about the addition of, say, Roman Phifer.

1. Welker could potentially miss the whole season if he has a setback. Even if he does come back, he wont be Wes Welker
2. Moss knows this is his last season in NE, cant wait for the trainwreck.
3. Tate cant step on the field without tearing his knee
4. Patten and Mason 5-6 years ago would have been great.
5. Edelman is the only thing we have to look forward too currently, and he isnt a deep threat which we need.

I've been a spectator on this site for a long time. Your posts always have the logic of a 12 year old autistic kid.

During the regular season game guy had like 5receptions in the first quarter, Pats had to double him rest of the way cause he was killin....

some call that an "excellent" offseason

No one calls that an "excellent offseason," other than posters here who find it necessary to argue with themselves.

While I don't "want" Mason I would be pleased if we signed him

I want a young guy to line up opposite of Moss and hopefully take over when Moss leaves. Not someone even older who has another year or two left in the league

I can't deny that he isn't an upgrade over Aiken though

Yes, that's true. If reality unfolds in the absolute most negative way possible, we will be screwed. Just imagine, what if Tom Brady gets hit by a bus!

I'm somewhat disappointed you decided against remaining a spectator. This forum would have been better off had you chosen differently.

When did I ever say they are similar players? I was saying I'm sick of over the hill vets who are much closer to the end than their prime. I personally don't feel Mason has much left. A WR corps of Moss Mason Edelman Tate doesn't do it for me. What is so wrong with wanting to get younger and better at the same time?

There are also NO guarantees that Welker will ever be the same player. He relies so much on stopping on a dime and quick cuts. Who knows what happens with him.

Yeah, b/c I've touted Cro as one of the best CB's in the league. Wrong. I've said he is definitely worth a look for a decent draft pick or even Maroney if he's not going to be here for the long haul. It's an absolute joke that you wouldn't take Cromartie for a 3rd round pick. He is better than any CB currently on our roster and he is still in the prime of his career. Or maybe you'd prefer D'Shea Townsend, another guy at the end of the line who you'd probably call a great addition. Cromartie's upside compared to the upside of that 3rd round pick is significantly greater.

Jack, don't you know, the first day of free agency is the only day of the offseason! Which is why the 2007 New England Patriots played the entire season with one wide receiver (Gaffney) and were total failures!

You called a Mason signing "excellent."

That with Patten makes for an "excellent" offseason, O wise

I would be saitsfied at Wr with mason and some one else like Kevin Walter or trade for deion branch.. but WR is a big need.. Bolden would be a great upgrade, would like to see what he was traded for..

I'm sure you realize the difference between an excellent move (one that upgrades a unit) and an "excellent offseason" which usually consists of MANY moves throughout SEVERAL months

Like I said, I'm sure you grasp the difference, you're just choosing to be combative because you have nothing of substance to add to the discussion.

I pointed out the negatives because they are glaring. I guess I'll be delusional like you and say that Welker will go over 1,000 yards and have no affects from the injury. Mason and Patten will play like they are 22 and we will roll to the SB. I like to stay in reality.
