Well, that's why you sign them early.

Leigh Bodden-DB-Patriots Mar. 5 - 1:06 am et

Free agent CB Leigh Bodden is drawing interest from at least four teams.
With Dunta Robinson expected to sign in Atlanta, Bodden is the biggest name left on the cornerback market. The Texans, Seahawks, and Steelers are interested in addition to the Patriots.

If they lose bodden I'm going to laugh. This wait and let the bidding prices go down theory really sucks sometimes.

Not exactly surprised...let the bidding begin!

I hope we resign him. I will be mad if nothing gets done with him and wilfork. NO MORE BARGAIN BASEMENT FREE AGENTS!! Sign the ones that thrive in this system like Bodden does!

I really despise how lax the Pats come off in terms of signing players. Whether they are or not they seem to have no "energy" at all in hunting down impact players to add to the team

I wish there was more to read about them aggressively pursuing players and such

I guess that sit back n relax defense comes from the fo lol.

This has the makings of an all time epic fail for the team. They finally get a physical, agile, highly adept man corner and let him walk. Bodden was one of my personal favorites all season, and for the life of me can't understand why they aren't actively trying to retain him. Highly frustrating to say the least.

Lose out on Cromartie first, now looks like Bodden will be visiting with other teams that are likely going to offer him more money and will likely end up leaving the Pats. Somebody call BB and wake his ass up...

It is what it is - but I'm expecting NE to at least get the right to match.

I don't think he'll be back. We've had like two months to work something out with the guy, and we haven't. If they felt he was a vital part to the team, he would've been re-signed already so the price wouldn't be driven up on the open market.

Im not even a huge fan of bodden I just have no clue who BB thinks will replace him no problem on this team.

Looks like Whilite and Wheatley are the future

Good times ahead...

Lose out on Cromartie? Sorry, can't help myself over the Jests doing their Washington Redskins act again.

If they don't retain Bodden, the one thing that would mellow me out is working out a trade for Gocong for a 4th and 5th. I'm hurting, sensei, do you think they will keep Bodden?

Lose out on Cromartie?!? The Pats were unable to snag a CB that they and most of the league didn't want including his own team. Damn you Belichickfor not making a strong run at an overrated player that lacks heart and toughness. If there was one thing the Pats was missing out on last season was players on defense who were afraid to get physical, play without discipline, and gamble too much to the team's deficit.

Better then anything on the current roster.

Sorry, the Pats don't have a 5th to offer this year.
Neither do they have a 3rd to offer so that they can tender Gocong a contract.

I have to say I'm mildly concerned if we don't resign Bodden. That will add to the needs list going into the draft.
I would have offered Bodden 4/28 or 4/30 to get it done. Let's see how high his price jumps now.
We also could have locked up Asante for around 6M per year before he had his breakout 10 int season.

Hurting? So the Jest win the pennant, we'll always have February.

Gocong for NE's 4th would be encouraging.

Bodden played where before 2009? It's a strange market, if I'm Bill I let him test the water and ask for the right to match the top offer. BB's done that for other players (Givens, Patten, Neal).

How are they acting like the Redskins with that move. It's a third-round pick next year and he's only going to make less than $2 million this year.
