Who else will cheer when the Pats take Golden Tate?

I agree with the hines ward comparison but that's only on the character/physicality side, hes alot faster than hines and he goes up better than Ive ever seen hines.

The two knocks I have on WR Tate are:

1.) He does not run good routes and in the NFL, that will not translate well. Yes it is something that can be taught, but should you be teaching a 1st round draft pick how to run precise routes?

2.) Can he beat press coverage? NFL corners are going to be physical with him because of his lack of size, Is he really tough enough to beat them? I think so, he appears to love to mix it up. But again it will take time.

If he is available in the second round, I think BB should jump on him. At #22 however I think we would be over drafting him.

Arrelious Benn, is the guy i want.

this is the way i see it tate need's moss and welker, to open up he's game. and benn, can help open up moss game. and be the #1 WR when moss. is gone in a year or two.

You and I are in the same boat. Tate's 40 today opened alot of eyes, but Benn is amazing. I'd love to see him opposite Moss this upcoming season.

I think BB is going to see all those drops when he plugs in the tape. It may make it very hard to see him in a patriot's jersey.

I'd consider Tate in round 2, but I don't really like him in at 22. I think he can be a nice complementary receiver, but not a no.1 guy. I was kind of disappointed in the WR's, but I'd look at Benn, Tate, and Gilyard in round 2. That said, I think I'd rather use a couple later round picks on Decker (assume he drops due to injury), Mike Williams (Character), Jacoby Ford (size), Roberts (competition level), or Carlton Mitchell. If the Patriots could land 2 of this group, I think they would hit on one who'd give similar or better production than the current projected round 2 guys.

Same here. Benn is my #1 WR target for us. Reminds me so much of Boldin with more speed. The perfect #2 WR to compliment Moss.

As for the OP, best WR since Fitzgerald? What about the 07 class of Calvin, Bowe, and Sidney Rice? Tate is a good prospect, but I don't think he's THAT good.

At this point, Tate knows the system. With Welker on the shelf, wr has to be high on the priority list. Unless it get's adressed in free agency, Tate is a top candidate. Depending on who is on the board when they pick Tate would be tough to pass on. He will never make it past KC or a handful of other teams in round 2.

Thre are a lot of good WRs, no need to take Tate in round 1.

Damien Williams is better for our system anyway, I believe, and you could get him in round 2.

Blair White, Antonio Brown WR/PR, Decker from Minn., could be had in late rounds. Riley Cooper in the 3rd/4th.

I cheer if we grab him in the 2nd, throw something at my tv if we grab him in the first.

I think his routes are okay at this point, Im going to compare him to Percy Harvin last year, these were two knocks on him as well. Golden like Harvin is the type of player that I think we could use. He's one of those "find a way to get him the ball" playmakers who with just a little creativity will make a big impact for a team. IMO mid twenties is the perfect spot for him.

Charlie is Balls Deep on Tate....

no way PATS land him

I agree. I think KC will pick him up with their second round pick.
If they want him they will need to use #5, either trading down a little or directly.

Duper was 30 years ago, Branch wasn't a #1 WR. I like Tate and I'd like to get him but he's not some super special stud and his size does hurt him.

I have been raving about this guy for over a year. He is 5'11" by the way. His height doesn't hurt him either as he jumps extremely high. He has everthing you want in a wide receiver, good hands, speed, quickness, great ability to get open and he is so good at getting yac. On top of that you are also getting a premium kick/punt returner and a guy who can play in the backfield also.
