Favorite is easily 2001. There was nothing like that feeling of that unexpected run and true team spirit.

Bolting out of the house with my buddies running around with patriots jerseys, everyone honking like maniacs. Greatest... Season... Ever.

Antowain's high stepping... Brady's hands on his head in disbelief. Brady slapping Bledsoe's shoulders "we did it... we f'ing did it!". The parade, not just a pass-by, but actually stopping in government center and celebrating on stage. The first SB victory, the underdog, the good guys. We DID IT!

I love watching that on highlights, always makes me smile. That was probably the fastest Smith ever ran in his life!

I liked the '76 players better......I liked the coach better......I liked the fans better

the fans were mostly drunken slobs, but at least they knew how to treat kids better

and I don't care how many SB's, I'll take grogan over brady anyday....brady is a little princess next to grogan

So Grogan was tough. And Brady isn't? Grogan was also an interception machine, with the game on the line he was pretty much guaranteed to throw it to the other team. I'll take the Hall of Fame "princess" any and every day of the week and twice on Sundays over the tough guy Grogan. I guess winning doesn't really matter when you can be a tough guy, take a big hit and throw a pic to lose the game . You must be a Favre fan.

2001 would get my vote. I liked Grogan too but he was a mediocre QB.

2001. The first time is always the sweetest. They were huge underdogs and pulled off upset after upset in the playoffs. Taking down the greatest show on turf was also awesome. Plus that defense kicked serious butt.

When within the first few plays of the game I heard that one of the Ram's receivers had broken a rib after a Pats hit, I knew we had this game. We were going to bully them to a championship. And of course I still remember Ty Law's big pick for the touchdown. And the kick that was heard round the world. Heck of a team, heckuva of a run.

and then there's the coach......BB may have fallen off the parcells tree, but parcells fell off the fairbanks tree......he is the grandaddy of the giants under parcells, the steelers under cowher, and the pats under BB

I think the 2004 team was the perfect combo of 2001 and 2007. They had 2007's killer instinct as evidenced by the absolute destruction of Indy and Pit in the playoffs and 2001's ability to make huge game changing plays whenever they needed them, as evidenced by the opening night win over the Colts etc. etc.

For me 2001 was the most exciting, 2003 was fun, 2004 was the perfect storm and 2007 was exhausting.

yeah...brady's not half as tough as grogan as is evident by the gesticulations to the ref every time someone touches him......

as for interceptions, the passing game in the NFL has changed over the year....

The three championship teams were all great. After those, my favorite was the 96 team. They rebounded from an injury plagued year to create an exciting team in all three phases of the game. Even in their regular seasonlosses (save for the loss to Denver), they were right in the game until the end and lost to teams who were just better at that time.

This was also the first year I went to a Patriots game so it was extra special



2007 was too damn stressful, though I would have to put them at #1 if they had won SB42.

2001 fo sho! The way they gutted out wins was the best, by far my favorite team to watch. Honestly I wouldn't bet against that team head to head vs any other team ever.

Nothing worse in sports than hopelessness. Thank god I was in college during that brutal 4-year stretch before Tuna and Kraft as there were plenty of ways to dull the pain.

in 1978, teams threw for 71158 yards with 468 TD's and 639 INT's
in 2009, teams threw for 111851 yards with 710 TD's and 525 INT's

guess it was grogan........go learn something.....

the divisional game against the colts was a work of art.......one of the top 3-5 best played games IMO


as players, coaches though, I like the late 1970's teams 1976 in particular

It says that Grogan like most QB's of his era would be lucky to be in the league in todays game, that Brady is light years better than him. The Pats have one of the top 2 or 3 QB's of all time on their team and you're pining away for a QB who was benched on numerous occasions, threw more picks than TD's and whose playoff record was 0-3. All this because Brady gestured to the ref when Suggs illegally went after his knee with intent to injure. Remember the whines and tears coming Suggs and Ray Ray when the same exact thing happened to him? You probably don't because nothing was made of it. Maybe you should try thinking before you post instead of using all of your energy being the boards resident A-hole.

proves me right.......QB's haven't changed, dopey.....the game changed....QB's are a protected species now......grogan always has been and always will be a tougher player than brady......I understand you're just a typical bandwagoner and can't identify with a whole lot that happened in the more distant past.....that's fine.

Yeah that was a stellar game. As far as players Brady is my all time favorite (obviously from my sn). Although it may seem cliche to say it, but I love his attitude, his work ethic, his playing style, and so much more about the player. Then there's Vrabel and Bruschi. I love the Pats of the 00s.

I do think brady has changed over the years......part of it is the different scheme of the last few years which does not allow him to be patient the way he used to be and he's not looking around the field like he used to....

I don't get it.....you take a guy who used to be able to distribute the ball consistently to a 1/2 dozen targets, and make him distribute it to 2......its pretty much all scripted now

That's a good point. I guess that's what happens when you get high caliber receivers though. Show's how adaptable Brady is. He's the ultimate system quarterback. And the two receivers would have worked out great if it wasn't for one miracle pass. We'd be talking about the 2007 team as the greatest NFL team of all time. No question about it. But I see what you mean. Brady has changed.
