Moss trade to Dallas?

If you can get at least adequate replacement for Moss, plus get a really good deal for him then that's fine. You can argue that with every single player on the team. However, Barber is NOT "good deal" IMO, not for this team..

I love Barber, but IMO Dallas overpaid. His contract is awful.

And if they can't stop offenses in the 2-minute drill, does that imply you would not love to see 07 output again (They aren't mutually exclusive)..

We would have no choice.

We have no idea what he is looking for or what the Patriots are willing to offer. But we do know that Moss is not dead set about getting maximum top dollar, or at least hasn't been.

Nope. No clue what either side thinks. What we do know is that the Pats don't pay (most teams actually) big money to players in their mid-30s.

How about a deal with Dallas with Maroney,Watson and Moss traded to them for Barber and Whitten? .....I would take that in a milli second

We know the Pats -haven't- paid "big money" to a player in their mid-30's. We don't know that there is no player that the Patriots would ever feel deserves a little bit of cash in their mid-30's.

This is probably one of the most horrendous trade proposals I have seen.

Next time label the thread "ESPN Insider: Moss trade to Dallas?" so I can properly dimiss it as BS right off the bat, before clicking.

Big fan or Barber's running style. Not sure of his pass-protection abilities but he runs well and can catch the ball out of the backfield.

Not sure if Barber = Moss though as Moss may have a bit more value.

Barber is a VERY good blitz-picker upper.

Pretty much his play went down when the whole TO implosion got exposed late in the 2008 season - whenever TO complained he didn't get the ball enough, those were the games when TO got thrown the ball a bunch of times, and Barber got FEW touches. Barber didn't complain, but over time, rumors came out from Randy Galloway et al over his unhappiness, although he never came out and imploded like RG predicted.

Apparently, it's affected his play over the long haul. IMHO, I think MB3 needs a new environment - your team would be perfect. He's EXCELLENT at running screen passes.

Belichick would have to be some kind of mastermind to find a way to trade Watson, who isn't even under contract.

Let's throw in Mike Lowell too. C'mon man....

Yep. Agreed...

Great. Would you take Matt Light and a re-signed Chris Hanson for him?

Dallas was a suitor for moss in 07

The Patriots and Randy Moss really aren't close to a new contract, although the Pats believe Moss will give them the option to match whatever deal he does receive on the open market. That makes sense because the clubs pursuing Moss will be limited because he wants to play for a contender. The most interesting rumor is Moss joining the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys can pay up, and wouldn't T.O. and Moss be interesting to watch, not to mention impossible to defend?

you do know t.o. isn't in dallas any longer, right ?

Yea I heard some mild rumblings out of Barber and JJ seemed to be a little punchy when he heard that Barber thought that he may not be able to play a couple times b/c of injury. Based on how things went down there on 2008, my opinion on Barber hasn't changed much. I like him a lot....

How about one of your LBs thrown in like Mayo(we need some depth here)? j/k

2008 was just a HUGE mess - even worse of having TO on your team is that once he shatters your locker room and leaves, it will take AWHILE to pick up the pieces. Look at the Eagles - since TO got kicked off, their players are still whining and complaining about supposedly bad contracts, and McNabb has pretty much lost touch with his teammates. The same can be said with us, to some extent, if you look at the whole Barber situation.

Again - I think he will be a great fit for your team - he's a great blitz picker upper, and he's very underrated in running screens. In the last couple of years or so, I've seen Brady throw less dumpoffs and screens - with a Barber, it would be a great start, IMHO, to get back on track in this respect.

If we lose Moss I wish they'd re-sign Watson and convert him into a WR.

So we can have a receiver who can't catch the ball ?

I can't imagine the Cowboys would dump T.O. just to get Moss.

No way, we need Moss this season. Without Moss here's our healthy WR's right now: Edelman, Aiken, Stanbach, David Patten. Yes I know we are going to address the position this offseason but there's always been a learning curve when it comes to new WR's with very few exceptions. If we're in a good situation at the position next offseason, I wouldn't mind franchising and trading.

I know that.....wishing thinking, could have done last last offseason

Nothing like the offseason and these 10 page threads of speculation! w00t!

Go look at Moss' career playoff numbers before you insert your foot in your mouth.

Randy's playoff numbers.....

First five playoff games .. 26 receptions 584 yds. 7 TDs 5.2 rpg, 116.8 ypg
Last 7 playoff games ..... 21 receptions 281 yds 3 TDs 3.0 rpg, 40.2 ypg
Total 12 playoff games .. 47 receptions 865 yds,10 TDs, 3.9 rpg, 70 ypg
