Anyone else get the impression BB is about to rain hell down on this team?

The problem with BB trying to "rain hell down on this team" is that he set the tone for the season by trading Seymour for a pick years down the road.

We do not know if 2010 will be uncapped. Speculating...Most likely outcome...a new CBA with some different cap rules.

What is the basis for that statement? We're about 2 months from the end of the 2009 season, with no signs of being anywhere close on having a new CBA by that time.

Nfl goes uncapped 03/01/10. It looks like neither the owners or nflpa are in any hurry to get this done.

Nflpa wants to see what uncapped is going to look like and the owners want this one shot to dump some overpaid contracts

The other side of the coin might just be that his players are about

set to turn him off. They may give up completely and tank the

rest of the season just like they did BB's last year in Cleveland.

That's the closest I've ever seen here in a long time to a version of TJ's "the Patriots hate their coach."

From what I've heard about BB, it wouldn't surprise me if there has been some real anger directed at everyone this week.

This part of the season reminds me of a quote from Patriot Reign, described below by SI's Peter King:

"Belichick doesn't buy the canned and cliché stuff you hear in the press all the time. As the Patriots struggled trying to repeat as champs in 2002, he read in the paper one day that one of players said the team had to get its "swagger'' back. That day, in the team meeting, he said: "You know what? We didn't have a 'swagger' last year. What we had was a sense of urgency about playing well, being smart, and capitalizing on every opportunity and situation that came our way ... It wasn't about a f------- swagger. You can take that swagger and shove it right up your a--, OK?''

BB has always been tough, but it seems to me he's building up like a storm.

Maybe my post in another thread belongs here instead:

The storm was predicted, when you need to be someplace that you consider (or should consider) to be Important you plan for bad weather and you leave extra-extra early so you arrive on time. Especially important when you know your ***** is grass considering your last performance. BB's on the money; the leniency afforded to a superstar is not a Patriot-given right, it's earned. If the so-called LEADERS (Moss and Thomas) can't set an example for Guyton and Burgess, Burgess especially because he's very new), then who's going to? Remember when the leaders were watching film by 5AM? Guys like Big Willie, Rodney,TFB who's the ONLY one with a valid excuse were in there way before they had to be because they wanted to be better than the last game. Rookies who came here understood this concept, actually they had no choice but to understand it. The one thing anybody should have learned about BB is that his cuts run the deepest-he doesn't give a * who you are or what you did in the past; it's all about what you're doing NOW. Always has been and always will be that way at least as long as BB is here which I hope is a very long time.

Tedy was right. And so is BB.

BB has to do something, set the tone, take the bull by the horns, and be pro-active about warding off a mindset of acceptance. If they can't manage to plan for weather here in NE ( a storm that's been pimped for days btw) but more importantly make the meeting and practice a priority, then what do we expect to see on the field? I'm glad BB isn't accepting mediocrity as a standard, either on the field or off. If he let this slide he'd show them he accepts mediocrity as well. And when that day comes I hope he retires.

Totally forgot about this. Urgency. Being smart. Playing well. Capitalizing on every opportunity and situation that came their way.

Sadly, Belichick should not have to rain fire down on the players. In past years, the veterans rained their own fire down and kept the newbies in line. Unlike Mangini, Belichick has demonstrated he knows how to win and past players respected the notion his words have weight.

I don't know if this conclusively establishes a lack of leadership on the field, but it certainly doesn't hurt the argument. By going younger, one of the unfortunate side effects is many of the players with all the rings are no longer around to rail the younger guys. Leaders without rings cannot claim they know how to win the title and thus lack similar credibility.

Wilfork better be even better than he is now for the next several games or we will be seeing Brace or Pryor take his place next season.

Go on... explain this a little further!

This should be interesting. :ugh:

In Miami, Wilfork was one of the only guys on the defense who looked like he even cared. I'm not sure what the basis is for this statement.
