Right now he's on pace for:

Catches-126 Yards-1366 TD-6

And that's including the games he missed.

If you just did the games he's played, then it'd look like this:

Catches-158 Yards-1708 TD-8

Do you think he can keep up on this pace?

And for kicks and giggles, here's highlight footage:

YouTube - Wes Welker Highlights

Welker is the welts on the back of our opponents as we whip them, and our pimp hand is strong!

Wes Welker-384 receptions, age 28

1. All-time Jerry Rice, 1,549
2. Cris Carter 1,101

Could you picture one day Welker being #2 all-time in receptions, I just can't picture him in canton.

Wes Welker would need to average 89 catches for 7 years to get to 2nd all time. But then again, that's also counting his Dolphin days.

I can't picture Welker lasting another 8 years in the NFL with the beatings he takes.

Speaking of beatings, is it me, or does WW signal a lot more fair catches when he returns lately? If BB keeps feeling the need to use him for that, at least that makes me feel a little better about it.

I want to see him get the ball less, not more. He's too valuable to our longterm success to be a 10-15 catch a game guy. He won't last 5 years at that rate.

I believe Marvin Harrison is actual #2 with 1,102 career receptions. Honestly though, I think it's more likely we see Moss with 1,000+ receptions (11th with 906 now) than Welker.

He does take a lot of hits, but not as many as you might think: if you watch closely, you'll see that he often sees the hits coming, and minimizes the impact from them. Nevertheless, it's remarkable that he's only missed about three games total in his career.

Oh I totally agree! He is way too productive! Maybe we should keep his catches down to maybe four a game, and then when we he sits down halfway through the second quarter we could get him a warm glass of milk. And when hes finished that we could cradle him in our arms and burp him and say "Thats a good boy! Did you give daddy a big burp? Thats a good little man!"

According to Cold hard Football Facts, Welker is the first person in NFL history to have 300 receptrions in his 40 games with a new team with 302.

Not to mention he's probably the most unstoppable video game force since Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson.

According to some thats a bad thing(i of course disagree with them)

Ageed. Some guys know when to duck, go OB, get tackled and "roll",etc. Welker has that knack.

However, to his credit WW will plow through defenders to get extra yardage and encourage contact. He has taken his share of hits.

You gotta keep giving him the ball. It's an insult to WW if you don't and does not maximize the potential of this offense.

I agree that his knack for avoiding direct contact is amazing. I've even been frustrated at times when he dives down low to avoid a hit, when not doing so might have resulted in a much longer play or TD (Indy punt return comes to mind). But I suspect his act frustrates the hell out of defensive players even more--they really seem like they're trying to injure him almost every time he gets the ball.

He still takes his share hard hits and it's been incredibly lucky for us that he hasn't missed significant injury time in three years here. But at some point his luck is going to run out and we'll be screwed . (maybe Edelman could step in and be another Wes? ).

Ideally, he wouldn't be returning punts and I agree with the poster who said less touches for WW would be much better for this team--minimize the chances Welker gets hurt and distribute the ball better at the same time. Win-win scenario.

We really need a #3 WR that can threaten defenses down the field a bit IMO.

I actually did my math kind of wrong, he's actually on pace for:

Catches-138 Yards-1494 TD-7

That was my point about #2, it sounds absurd, I know. What if he has 3 explosive years of 120-130, then he will need to get 4 seasons of 65-75.

I think he can definantly get top 10.
