Mayock says Vollmer's perfomance was overhyped

so?? Mayock is still wrong about the ratio of double coverage at LT.

my point was that this is a TEAM sport. It doesn't matter what Vollmer can individually can do, but what the offensive unit can do as a whole. Whether Mayock was right or wrong should not matter at all. With that said, I have no doubt that maybe next year Vollmer will get even better and go one on one the whole game with Freeney. It would be even sweeter if he can do it in the playoffs.

when light is redy to play and if they put him back at LT

and dont move the rookie to RT then we will know that the rookie played good but not great only BB can realy know how he is playing

There's no denying Vollmer has some talent. But has any DC really taken Vollmer serious enough to scheme against him? Time will tell on that ... I don't think they have done that to this point ... but they will and then we will know.

YouTube - Sebastian Vollmer had help on Freeney 36 out of 44 passing attempts

Yeah, I don't know. Mayock claims to have charted every Pats passing attempt. Kind of lame if you ask me. I'm sure Collinsworth would beg to differ......

I've charted every play. My numbers disagree with Mayocks. Especially since the Pats ran 47 passing plays, not 44. (42 throws, 2 sacks, 3 penalties)

Vollmer had some help, but on probably 15 plays, not 36. He got less help than I remember Light getting, and he did a fine job.

Could you please give me an example of a LT that a defense schemes around? Because I've never seen one.

I bet you could go back and check every game of Freeney's career, and not find a single game where he wans't chipped by a TE or RB.

I still enjoy..... the idea of playing Vollmer LT for grooming purposes. He is impressive and will get better w/ more exerience.

Just one example would be Rex Ryan when he overloads.

Stunts, loop stunts ... what we're going to do playbook stuff now?

So DE's go into every game not knowing the tendencies of the OT they are up against. Their leverage, hand play and all the rest. Vollmer will be probed for weaknesses ... I don't think that needs to be explained to anyone who watches the game.

Um, are you trying to say that no one has run any stunts, loops, etc, against Vollmer?

Teams have been probing Vollmer for weaknesses for weeks now.

How many would that be and how many does it take?
Seriously ... what are you reaching for here?
Let's give Vollmer some time here ... he looks very good so far but he has yet to truly be tested by a variety of players and defenses. I doubt any fan is hoping he fails - but the reality is players are evaluated on how they hold up over several years ... not games ... of play.

Vollmer may have had help on some plays but he's simply so much better than Matt Light. As a rookie he did as good a job on Freeney as anyone Patriot has. Matt Light isn't getting his old job back nor should he.

No he isn't.

Matt Light owned Freeney too.

Yes he is.
