Globe: What the Dolphins win means

Morris practiced today. The media is saying Taylor late Nov but hes been in the witness protection program since he had surgery so who knows what his situation is. Reading the tea leaves b/c he was not IRd, the teammust think that he has a shot at returning this year.

Good news on Morris. I was wondering about Taylor he wasn't put on IR list guess their optimistic he'll be back.

It means that they can beat BUMS.

Nothing else

We pretty much have to win out to win the division and I just don't see that happening. Yes, we'll beat Buffalo and we'll play a good game with you, but I don't see us going to Jacksonville, Tennessee and winning then turning around and taking the Texans (who we've never beat) and the Steelers down at home.

We have a shot at the wildcard, but we need to play like last night or better the rest of the way.

Last night the Dolphins short, controlled passing game returned. With Pennington, we completed a high percentage of passes, ran the ball often, and didn't turn it over. With Henne last night, we did all of that and have that added intermediate passing game. Henne presents an element to our offense Penny simply couldn't.

Defensively, our pass rush has been anemic this year. However, last night we got after Delhomme all night running the arc and collapsing the pocket.

If we can do this, we'll go 10-6 and make the post-season.

If not, we'll go 8-8 and be a serious threat in 2010.

I am no so sure Miami going on the road into Buffalo in December (ok it is actually November 29 but close enough) is as much of a sure thing as the columnist seems to think.

Re: Globe:What the Dolphins win means

They may have lost their NT Ferguson for the season in the process. He's having an MRI today on a reportedly serious knee injury. Last year they had a relatively injury free season save for Noodle. This year not so much.

Before us they have to travel to Buffalo, then after us they have back to back road games with JAX and TENN before finishing up with Houston and the Steelers. Some tough defenses and a crowned field... Carrying the load for the last 6 weeks will be a test for Ricky and losing your nose in the 3-4 against some teams who can run will be as well.

Yeah he's definitely done. You could tell right when it happen. I knew, everyone knew it, hell, he knew it. You could see it on his face.

Without him we'll turn to youngster Paul Soliai. He was fantastic against the Jets at the Meadowlands and then was awful in the first contest with you guys in Foxboro. Swingman, Tony McDaniel, gets snaps too.

His absense will hurt, but I think our best chance is our improved pass rush. Vontae Davis is a tough son of a ***** and he sure is becoming battle tested as he has gone up against Roddy White, Reggie Wayne, Braylon Edwards, Marques Colston, Randy Moss and Steve Smith.

He will never lack confidence, there's no question about that. He just needs to get even more physical with Moss. He's going to be a terrific pro. He's going to make multiple pro-bowls. We'll just say if he's ready for the challenge this second time around against Moss.

Somebody has to beat Volmer, though. He stonewalled us and Brady could've gotten his hair cut in the pocket. That's the key. We pressure Brady, we put ourselves in the driver's seat in the division. We don't, you guys blow us out and run away with it.

I'm not saying the Dolphins are the cream of the crop this year....but we really need to win the division and just flat out win more games.....

The are a tough football team

I honestly can't believe I used to think you guys were worse than Jets fans. Ugh, going to their board is like going back to elementary school. At least you guys have won something and have justified some of that arrogance your team carries. They haven't won **** and seem to think their **** don't stink.

I think we are twice the team the Jets are, not quite on par with the Pats, but as tough as any team in the NFL. Last night proved that with basically our entire offensive line going out and us still poudning the rock down their throats.

Ricky's 49 yard TD run came in the A gap with the third string center, Nate Garner (who almost got cut in camp) in the game.

We aren't the panzy ass finesse team that Dave Wannstedt used to field. Playing in cold weather isn't really a disadvantage any more. We went into Kansas City against a bad football team last year and laid it on them in negative temperatures. It won't be that cold in Buffalo and that Bills team is just as bad as that Chiefs team was last year.

We beat Buffalo 38-10 the first time around. We'll romp them again.

Dolphins don't have it ... especially with just Ricky Williams. I am a big Williams fan but at his age I don't think he can carry a team anymore and they have no pressure recievers. A decent defense and O-Line is about all they have. We will beat them in Miami ...

Don't underestimate the Dolphins, their win last night was down to stupidity on behalf of the Panthers offensive playcalling but they are getting it done quite a lot. I thought the Patriots would destroy them a couple of weeks back but with all their domination they still only won by 10 points. They just don't go away easily.

I looked at the rest of their schedule and apart from us and the Steelers its not a very tough schedule. Its looking very likely now that when we meet them again its going to be for the lead in the division.

That was about as generic and inaccurate of an assessment of any football team I've ever seen. To put our offensive line and defense in the same class is downright comical.

we beat Jets/ Miami @ home we win division.

What it means is is that there's a team besides the Jets that The Patriots have to be beat out...AND The Fins are pesky and resilient..BUT I also think that they might over time wear a bit..especially with Williams carrying the load and no Brown..but I would not underestimate them...I really think this game in Miami will be tough!!

I agree. Miami is always a tough out. It doesn't seem to matter who is playing.

On paper, we'll kill them. But it rarely works out that way.

I think the Brown injury really hurts them. But I'm still not counting this as a W yet.

Actually Miami isn't always tough. That doesn't mean we should underestimate that game, but lets be honest here. They have sucked in the past. Did they look tough in the second game we played them last year?

Well we had a lead in the 2nd half. You added a late score to run it up late that made it look a lot more lop-sided than it really was. It was a good game for three quarters.

I still don't think we can pressure Brady enough to make this a contest. He's going to have all day to throw again and our defense won't be able to get off the field. Our only chance is to create turnovers or consistently pressure Brady. Don't see it happening.

Wildcat is not the same without Brown..the Pistol..may be OK..but it's going to take a lot to make up for the Brown loss. The Miami D is tough...but I still think the game will be close because it is a home game..and it's hard for the Pats to win there. What 4 times they have won in like 9 years?? It's not good..

When has our D been tough at all this year? I don't get where this is coming from.

And I've always contended that we should only run the Wildcat once we get inside the 5. It has a 100% success rate down there if we commit to it and punch it in. We did it with Ricky in Carolina. Ronnie Brown is our best player, but tailback was also our deepest position. I think Williams and Hilliard can weather the storm and our elevated short passing game can pick up the rest of the slack.

We had three guys going into this season that we couldn't afford to lose.

1. Chad Pennington
2. Ronnie Brown
3. Jason Ferguson

And then probably Jake Long. That said, all three of those guys are out and we've done fine without the top 2 to date.

We also lost Will Allen. This makes Wes Welker even more dangerous against us because Will does a pretty good job on him.

I really hate the WILDCAT....... gonna be nervous during this 1. Ronnie is out.... so I feel a little bit more comfortable. Not that I feel comfortable when playing against the BS Wildcat anywyas.
