Silverdome sale price disappoints | detnews.com | The Detroit News

Mike Martindale / The Detroit News
Pontiac -- Nearly 35 years after taxpayers spent $55.7 million building the Pontiac Silverdome and a year after a $20 million sale fell through, city officials have sold the arena once called the most desirable property in Oakland County.

The price: $583,000.

"This was a giveaway," said David J. Leitch, a broker with an Auburn Hills based realty firm.

Have your yuppie friends over for some caviar and a game of touch football in your matching high-rise Dockers khaki sport shorts?

Would high-waters and deck shoes be the required uniform for that league?

Kontra,

Let be serious here for a second...the Dockers khaki sport shorts NEED to be pleated.

Oh, of course. Natural pleats as well, none of that ironed crap.

Yep. People that wear the ironed shorts also eat farmed caviar.....

If your gonna be a yuppie, you can't be 1/2 ***** about it.

Detriot is a totally bankrupt city. It is scary how that town is totally economically collapsed. Unfortunately, I am not all that surprised. You can buy a home in Detriot for $10k.

I'm sure you can buy a home there for $1.

But the place in question is in Pontiac, a burb well outside the city.

500 k looks cheap but im sure the property taxes are not.

Thats it??? I could have bought the ledgendery place where Hulk Hogan Body slammed Andre The Giant for that cheap?

its not like they just paid 500k and thats it. It cost 1.1 million per year just for MANDATORY maintenance of the place.

but where else can you buy a stadium for 600K

I'm sure paying utilities on that place is a lot of fun.
