I agree with going for it- I just don't agree with the calls on 3rd and 2 and 4th and 2. If you can't move the ball 2 yards in 2 downs, pack up and go home for the season. Run the ball FFS

wow it took b@lls to call that play. i agree with going for it too...since the way it was going Manning would have scored anyway. the only thing was i would have thrown the jump ball to Moss instead of Faulk since Randy was in a zone...

Even though we did not get the 1st down on 4th and 2, I am glad we tried.

If we got the 1st down the game is over.

I remember the AFC Championship game against the Colts a few years ago.
We had a 3rd and 5 and Bob Sanders broke up a pass to Troy Brown inside of 2 minutes.

If we got the 1st down, we could have run out the clock.

We punted the ball and Indy moved down the field with no problem and
won the game on an Addai run.

I have always wished we went for it on 4th and 5, because I had much
more faith in our offense than I did in our defense that Sunday.

If we punted, I feel Peyton had 2 minutes & a couple time outs.
I do not have enough faith in Peas prevent defense to punt the ball.

I still trust our offense in the clutch more than our defense.

With all due respect, let's break this down:

Number one, the lineman ref calling the bobble was in BACK of Faulk? How the **** does he know it was a bobble?

From my point of view, Faulk had clear control of the ball, which means the ball is spotted at forward progress (in which case we get first down). If it is "bobbled" the ball is spotted where the play is dead (short of the 4th).

We could have challenged the play because it was within the two minute warning.

However we could not, because we were out of timeouts.

Which brings us to the question- should BB have had the foresight to know that since he was out of timeouts, he could not challenge the outcome of any play thereafter? Should that have made him punt the ball?

This is what is open to conjecture.

Meanwhile, I will congratulate the home ref. I have no idea how he saw through Faulk's back to call it a "bobble." Maybe he has x-ray vision, who knows?

It was a good call any way you look at it, if they make it (and they did, pis poor spot) how many of you castigating him would call him a genius, you cant have it both ways.

He had already stopped bobbling at this point, effing refs were awful on this and the PI call.
Both teams made mistakes but to lose the game on a bad spot sucks.

well, this loss hurts, but not NEARLY as bad as the AFCCG or the Super Bowl. We have next week. As for the call, it was dumb. I just hope it doesn't carry over to the coming weeks.

Yep. Although that's not lined up right to give a great angle, his foot shows how much he made it by.

If you know your going to go for it if you don't make it on 3rd down, then you run on 3rd down and try and gain some extra yardage.

It was a bad call and nothing else can describe it. On your own 30, up by 6, facing a Peyton Manning led team that can move the ball on you at will, you punt it. You don't even give them the chance to make a stop and get the ball on your own 30.

Manning with the ball in his own half with 2 minutes left, chance to win it. Manning with the ball at your own 30 with 2 minutesd left, suicidal.

meh...didnt Manning marched down and scored in like 1 minute and half or something? i could be wrong but it seem like that's what i remembered. BB just didnt trust the young defense...

I love the call. He picked it up. The line judge who made the bobble call was looking at faulk's back. He could not see the play.

It shouldnt of even come to that. The fu##in refs blew another call. They called a pass interference on the pats that was not at all, and as far as the the 4th and 2, I think Faulk made the first but the Fu##in A##hole refs blew the call.

that pass interference call was SO BS it is unbelievable, and NOT to mention how by football standards the flag came light years after the actualy play

Dude, I KNOW. I'm saying you can use the foot as a MARKER to see where the rest of the body is because without that, the angle can't show for sure as it's not a straight on view.

The call is debatable. What is NOT is the wasted time outs on that drive. One that was absolutely unecessary.

I disagreed with the decision immensely even before the play, but now I'm seeing the other point of view. I just knew that since our defense couldn't stop Manning, I'd rather make him go 70 instead of 30 yards, just in case something bad were to happen.

The spot was pretty awful, no doubt.

Wow. I can't believe people are defending handing the ball to Manning on our 28. I love the guy that's using algebra, oh, I'll change my mind If a simultaneous equation proves it's a great idea.

I seriously think he might be losing interest. Blows all the time outs and hands the ball away. You know they needed more than a field goal...

Yeah, 28 yards and 70 are about the same.

Why did we revamp this secondary if NOT for them to weather a 70 yard drive in the 4th quarter?? At least make the Colts beat you going the whole field, instead of giving em the shortest field possible to score on you. Driving 70 yards and having to score a TD and not a FG in less than 2 minutes is not as easy as it sounds!

There were a couple of other crappy plays that contributed to losing the game, like oh fumbling on the goalline of the Colts endzone that would have sealed the game, etc. But the 4th down call sticks out because it's the last play the Pats had control of the ball. And burning up 2 TO in the second half a game like that is inexcusable.

By NOT punting, BB gave Peyton TOO much respect and not enough faith in his defense to perform.
