With all due respect, let's break this down:
Number one, the lineman ref calling the bobble was in BACK of Faulk? How the **** does he know it was a bobble?
From my point of view, Faulk had clear control of the ball, which means the ball is spotted at forward progress (in which case we get first down). If it is "bobbled" the ball is spotted where the play is dead (short of the 4th).
We could have challenged the play because it was within the two minute warning.
However we could not, because we were out of timeouts.
Which brings us to the question- should BB have had the foresight to know that since he was out of timeouts, he could not challenge the outcome of any play thereafter? Should that have made him punt the ball?
This is what is open to conjecture.
Meanwhile, I will congratulate the home ref. I have no idea how he saw through Faulk's back to call it a "bobble." Maybe he has x-ray vision, who knows?
