This is exactly what makes Peyton Manning the Greatest QB of all time......the fact that he wins consistently without the neccessary ingredients to win consistently.

Yeah, it's not like he had a Hall of Fame RB, a Hall of Fame LT, a Hall of Fame WR and one of the most productive rushers in history in Edgerrin James to help him out with all this "winning" stuff.

I could very well argue that the sole reason Manning has a title is because his team finally carried him. His 3 TD 7 INT performance in the 06 playoffs wasn't really "Greatest QB of All Time" worthy.

He is one of the greats, no question about that. But he has always had elite offensive talent surrounding him. Don't make it sound like he's always had to do everything by himself to lead the Colts to victory. That's not accurate.

Brady has done more with less, in terms of winning. If, following your logic, that's the only criteria to determine the G.O.A.T he should be number one, not Manning.

Just wantexd to say on the 13 penalties
Offsides - 5
Pass Interference - 2
False Start - 1
Defensive Holding - 1
Unnec Rough - 2
Offensive Holding - 2

That is the break down

There was no disputing the 5 offsides calls, the two pass interference called where deserved one was a tackle of Reggie Wayne before he got the ball. No disputing the False start call.

Holding can be called on every play of every game and these two were blatent. So that is 9 of the 13 calls that are without question.

The defensive hold was pretty bad and should have been called.

The Unnec Roughness call on Clark was a bs call and should not have been called however it was consistent with all the calls that are being made around the league so not a big complaint about this one.

It was a sloppy game by the Texans.

Was the game yesterday a good showing for this team? Not at all. The Texans seem to be getting our number as the years go on, but there team is being built to stop us

I look forward to the Pats game every year and this year more so with both teams once again back where they belong, on top and both quarterbacks playing good ball.

The injuries in the secondary came back to hurt us yesterday but all in all they played alright. Good pass rush yesterday with Schaub had a lot of pressure.

Sorry for replying en masse like this, but this thread was 120 posts deep when I jumped in, so I'm replying half way through.

What was the Cardinals record AT THE TIME THEY PLAYED THEM?

edit: Did my own checking, at the time the Colts played AZ, AZ was 1-1, a .500 record.
So far this season, the Colts have played ONE team with a winning record, and three teams with a .500 record.

You can't be serious about applying records like that, are you?

13 penalties in one game?? HOLY COW. That can be 3-4 games for one team. Colts certainly get the help they need to win games. Troy Polamalu knows about this better than anyone.

It was much more of the Texans killing themselves with stupid play than any bias for the Colts.

Brady should have a field day in that comfy indoor palace. Can't wait!

The roof has been open for every game so far. Unless there is rain in the forecast, it's warm enough around here that I wouldn't be surprised if it's open Sunday night.

Actually, that ridiculous 15 yd penalty on Houston for drilling Dallas Clark was a horrendous call. The NFL is handcuffing defenses if they won't allow them to hit a receiver when the ball is on it's way to him. Crap, imho.

I wonder if BB is going to bring in a 3rd safety to try and negate Dallas Clark? Unless Guyton can stick with him, I don't know if w have another LB quick enough, so a 3rd safety, ala Rodney, makes the most sense. Maybe run the Brandons & Wang Chung?

The Colts o-line is really giving Peyton a lot of time this season, and against our anemic pass rush, we are going to have to cover like velcro.

If you lead with your forearm into a receiver's head, you are making it really, really easy for the refs.

Good to see you, Workhorse...should be a helluva game

Offense is just 33% of a team. Fact is, I'm sure many people outside of Boston would agree with me when I say, Manning makes his weapons....not the other way around.

Look kid...you sauck at crap stirring....give it a break...everybody here knows what a terrific QB Peyton is...take your Paydy doll and get back in mommy's basement if all you're going to do is spew Manning's stats

7-8 in the playoffs. LOL

we're all very aware of the Colts postseason failures.

i'm just reminding you.

and before you can play the injury card for the colts, remember that the pats are even MORE beat up, including jarvis green, edelman, fred taylor, matt light and sammy morris.

Peyton is one of the greats. There is no denying that. Both him and Brady will be among the 5 best quarterbacks to have ever played the game when they retire, if they aren't already (which I think they are).

I just think the "he always finds a way to win even though he has never had much to work with" argument not very suitable for Manning's case. He's always had a plethora of offensive talent around him and the time he got over the hump he was aided by a great performance by his defense. Manning played exactly one GREAT half that postseason (against the Patriots), but the rest of the time he was mediocre, including his MVP winning performance in the SuperBowl.

He has won alot because he is tremendously talented, hard working and intelligent. But saying he is the greatest of all time because he wins consistently without much talent around him is just false, especially when you consider a contemporary QB (Brady) has won more than Manning while having less to work with.

I'll leave the injury card for people like you.

offense is not 33% of a team. well, it's certainly one of the 3 "phases" but it's not equally as important as offense and defense.

look at a team like New Orleans, who has elite offense and defense but awful special teams. they are still somewhere between the best and 3rd best team in the NFL

on the other end of the spectrum Cleveland has excellent special teams but awful offense and defense. and overall they are awful

an elite offense OR defense can be enough to make a team competitive, but elite special teams aren't enough

How ya doing?

This is what I see from my side.

Peyton has been making the most with what he has this year. Teams are doubling Wayne and trying to take away Dallas and he still has been pretty damn effective. Though last week (San Fran) he really looked out of sync for most of the game. He has been having at least one of those "what the hell" throws every week. About half have been picks, the rest should have been. I hope the Patriots give him time.

The Colts offensive line suck at run blocking right now. They have been pretty good at pass blocking, but really inconsistent in the run game.

Addai finally looked good running against Houston. He had been Joe Joe Dancer prior to this week. He's been a good receiver and pass blocker, but his dancing has been maddening. Hopefully Brown will play this week. He should have play against Houston, I hope he didn't reinjure his shoulder. The guy can make some plays and if he's on the Patriots won't be able to drop everyone into coverage.

The fatties in the middle of the defensive line have had an impact in making this a different Colts defense. The run defense outside of the Miami game has been fairly good. Freeney and Mathis don't see as many double teams, though they weren't exactly on for all of the Houston game. I also like the fact that they blitz now. I don't know if they will blitz Brady much, but it is a possibility for the first time. The secondary is the week spot. It was the deep spot, but injuries have changed that. The rooks have been doing pretty good, but they are rookies. And now there is zero depth, so if somebody gets injured I may be asked to play.

I haven't seen the Patriots play much this season, so I can only go by other's opinions right now. Hopefully this will be a good, injury free game and a Colts win.
