Re: Kerry Byrne:Taking The Pulse Of The Pats At The Bye

Why would the entire team be in agreement? All three stadiums are real tough places to play with IMO Pitt still the best of the bunch.

I'm still not sold on Denver as a league power, but they certainly know the Pats in and out. Is that what you are driving at , Kontra?

No. I was driving at Denver being the New England Patriots' kryptonite. Both the fans and the atmosphere altogether. I would feel much, MUCH more comfortable if the Pats had to travel to Heinz or Lucas Oil.

Thats cool. Denver scares me b/c JD knows the Pats O, weaknesses and personnel better than anyone. Crowd doesn't bother me.

I dunna know, aluminum. If memory serves, in 87, they beat CLE in CLE in "The Drive" game and in 97 they won 2 playoff road games en route to their 1st SB....Teams that suck on the road don't do that.

Oh, I agree. Those were good teams--particularly, of course, the Super Bowl winners. I guess my thought is that the "air" difference is worth a couple games to that team each year, which can be all the difference between playoffs/no playoffs, or seeding for home field advantage, etc. That's all. I agree it helps to have John Elway, too.

I will submit that from 84-96 or so, the NFC was the vastly superior conference (which is why the AFC did not win a single SB in that timeframe).
Those 80s Broncos teams were undersized defensively and had mediocre running games. What Elway wa able to do with those Denver teams was a miracle as they were flawed.

The only thing worse than the Jets is Kerry Byrne.

Well that fact alone just makes me scared of Denver ANYWHERE.

Do you guys want Denver to beat PIT in the early November Monday night gm? I think PIT could be a team that might be positioning themselves well for a bye. My plan this weekend is to root for BALT to beat DEN, and then as much as it pains me, root for DEN to beat PIT the following week, because PIT is a bigger threat to get a bye than DEN.

Hmmmm. I guess for the sheer reason of wanting all teams as close to the Pats record, I'd want Pitt to win. But I do like the story out of Denver this year...

Pittsburgh is the easiest game because the pats dominate their "zone blitzing".

Indy is tougher because it is always difficult to predict shootouts.

Denver with travel. However, we will know more about Denver in December. There will be more tape on this team.
