Thomas fined for tackle on Edwards

I want to see an NFL game where the defender doesn't throw the QB down, the whistle isn't blown, and the QB gets away and makes a game-winning throw.

I badly want to see that happen.

Just not in a Patriots game.

You already saw it! It was the Superbowl against the Giants. Manning is in the grasp, won't go down, no whistle, escapes and throws a hail mary down the field!

i thought the wilfork call was bogus, but that this was the right call; can't judge intention, but the result "was what it was."

you're kidding right? um, remember SB XLII...two minutes to go...manning in grasp...escapes...desperation throw into traffic with the magic helmet catch...is it coming back to you now?

I sort of seem to recall this happening, at about 9:47 PM EST on February 3rd, 2008. I can't remember anything more about it though, my mind has blocked it out.

Ok, I think he gets the message about SB42

All Roger is going to accomplish here is QB's getting hit in their throwing shoulder or arm to ensure they don't throw it. They won't be hitting the ground anymore but they'll have torn up shoulders and broken ribs ... stupid azz this guy.

It was a stupid play. You can hear the whistle clearly before Thomas does the throw down - he could have held up. I think when he smells blood there is no stopping him..

Lame. Its not like as if Thomas took him down dirty or anything. Good job Duhdell for turning the NFL into flag football.

Superbowl 42... manning was being hauled in... whistle not blown, gets away, and tosses up a prayer that lands on the helmet of a giant...

my whine on today's Whiner Line...

well sports fans, once again Omissioner Clousseau is on the prowl

in this week's installment, the Omissioner of the National Fairy League has fined Adalius Thomas $5000 for (pause for dramatic effect)..TACKLING THE QUARTERBACK.

In an effort to stem the tide of this abhorrent behavior, the Omissioner has issued a league wide edict making pre + post game patty cake and ring around the rosey exercises MANDATORY for all defensive players.

Welcome to this new age of ****ification and wussification as the Omissioner continues to fix what was never broken in the first place.

Just consider the posts on this board if someone had bodyslammed Brady after the whistle had clearly been blown.

He said he didnt hear it and watching the game live I didnt either. I did hear it on replay so I think its warranted, like someone else said if it was Brady we'd all be screaming.

We don't know if the crowd noise was so loud that maybe AD missed the whistle,I remember the fans cheering loudly after the play and before the penalty.

Thank you for the incisive, contrarian insight.

the whistle blew WHILE A.T. was in mid tackle...the Bills QB was putting up a fight throughout the whole sequence. People who have a problem with this should take up knitting or girls field hockey

I'm not talking about in the grasp. Seymour had a mitt on him. Manning was never wrapped up.

5 seconds eh?

The tuck rule was put in for Brady?

What planet are you living on?

I'm not saying that this was a dirty play by Thomas or that he that he heard the whistle. Neither the ref can know whether Thomas heard the whistle. The ref judged what they saw.

And I am still not clear as whether a player is allowed to body slam a quarterback, even if the whistle hasn't blown.
