No one like to give up the big play!! Their gonna make Sanchez hold the ball and throw it outside the numbers. As a matter of fact I would be willing to bet that they show a ton of 46 looks with a single high safety!

That would make them highly vulnerable to the screen pass and the possibility of big plays via the run or short pass. I agree we'll see a lot of 8 in the box and varying looks, but ultimately it'll be a lot of varying zone coverages with some blitzes thrown in.

I hope the Pats pull out to an early lead. I want to see some heavy running from them, and not so pass happy from trying to make a comeback.

The 46 breaks down into zone coverage or nickle zone coverage. They wont be in the traditional rotated end position all the time, but don't be suprised if they do their best to cover up the gaurd box. It would also be advantagous for them when the jets are in a 3 wide set, say AT is the wil he shifts inside Guyton takes the SS spot and TBC or Burgess plays the Jack. Now obviously their not gonna spend the whole game in it. But I would say single high safety is going to be the order of the day. They love that any way because it's the easy way to cover 3.

I am sure they will play cover 3 at the snap to contain Keller up the middle.

But I just don't see them in a 4-6 because you know Brian, the Jets OC believe in playing smashmouth and you know that involves a lot of screens, and it didn't help that we did awful defending that.

When I think of 46, I think of CBs on the LOS jamming the WRs. I don't know how they can effectively drop into cover 3 from that spot.

I expect the Pats to use the screen game a lot, best way to counter an aggressive defense.

On the otherside of the ball I believe the Pats would've been better served to run against the Bills to counter the pass rush of Schobel. This week I believe the gameplan will be the screen play and quick hits utilizing Faulk and Welker. Revis has clearly developed into an elite CB & I imagine he'll be asked to cover Randy for the most part.

It's not there is off coverage, with about 7 to 8 yards of depth. It's also a great defense to slow down a TE at the line of scrimage. You can also blitz from any where or nowhere. It's drawbacks come when matched up with a short precise vertical passing game (west coast), also bunch sets can be a drag because of the coverages crossing over. Allot of the succesful D's today are mutated out of it. No one relies on it's typical three player coverage of the guard box for a whole game. Teams do still use the T-N-T philosophy inside on a limited basis. Our personnel right noww is stuck between two fronts, perfect for a variation of the 46. We got the perfect Joker in AT, we got the weak side end in Burress and we have Guyton to play In the Middle ( which means he's outside on 3 reciever sets). In the preseason they ran a D on passing downs that was essentially standard 34 except the strong side end was a LB. They were begging em' to run and they were'nt two gapping. I think we are gonna see looks out of the 46, the inside guys might not match, but I think they are gonna do something to keep guys off Guyton. As far as the screen go, if you mix up where and when the pressure comes your all set. Rookie QB too!
