Well this is disappointing. 2 pages and no one has posted anything about Roderick Rogers, so jamokes like me, STILL don't know anything about him....except that he's 6'2

The new guy was out at practice following his mid-afternoon signing. Safety Roderick Rogers wore No. 43 and mixed in as a reserve.

Thanks guys, only goes to prove that old adage, "whine and you shall receive".

Like the height, don't like the lack of weight. On the surface his position would seem to be at free safety, tall and fast(I hope). Maybe BB is looking to convert him to a GL CB to cover the bigger WR or receiving TEs, ANY combine numbers, he asked, whining to his betters.

SI ranks him 32 out of 33 Safeties. Ouch.

Also, NFLDraftScout (on USAToday.com) ranked him #334 overall; meanwhile, DraftCountdown didn't have him in its top 255.

Wonder why we would sign another one.

We only have three WR/safeties. You can't have too many.

Despite the sarcasm, you have stumbled on a quality that Belichick seeks in his Safeties. They don't have to be as fast as CBs, providing that they can tackle; and play the position correctly, which can be taught by good coaching.

But they need to innately have good hands, as in Belichick's mind, Safeties need to make INTs. And if the hands are good enough to be a WR, then they are certainly excellent for a Safety.

Translation: Ball skills. The ability to locate the ball while in the air, time it's trajectory and arrival back on the field of play, then arrange to meet and acquire it for your team.
