I wonder if we have a tackle they would consider in trade for their spare OLB. Gotta love desperation.

Maybe LeVoir, O'Callaghan or Britt.

Please, please not Sea Bass!!

Interesting, especially given that tackle wasn't a deep position for them to begin with. Of course, that's 6-8 weeks from now, which isn't too awful.

Kaczur for Burgess could be pretty fair value. Very unlikely, but not impossible.

I am not sure if Burgess really fits in our 3-4 system - he is short 6 1 7/8 and will have a lot of trouble against 6-4 310 lb OL with long arms when it comes to setting the edge.

NE likes their OLB's to be taller and have that ability, Woods is good at setting the edge at 6'5" - Tully is 6-2 and hence, is more of the pass rusher type. If Guyton learns to set the edge effectively, he could emerge as the one to solve all our problems given his speed and pass rush ability and decent size. What an amazing story that would be.

AD is the exception that makes the rule because he is such a beast and so darn good.

All of that said, Burgess, while injury prone is a two time all pro.....so who knows.

Burgess is a two time all-pro who would like a contract befitting

a two time all-pro. The Patriots might have to wait a good part of

the regular season for him to show up.

I don't think it's that clear cut. From some reports the real issue is that he desperately wants out of Raider land.

He wants out, they have a need for a lineman, Patriots have some linemen fighting for a roster spot, and Patriots have a need on defense....money and egos look like the only thing in the way of a trade.

not even a photon can escape that event horizon...nevermind a DL

Kaczur/O'Call for Burgess, take it or F you.

why the heck would we trade our two most experienced RT for someone Oakland doesn't even want? I hope you meant or....
maybe we should give Vollmer more than a week before we replace starters with him.

SBB, patsox said O'Call, not O'Conn (not to mention or, not and!) As for Kaczur, the fact that he's 30 years old and in the last year of his contract could be a factor.

yeah just changed my post........still rather keep the starter....if they want o'call for him than I am ok with that. (it was a slash not or!)

me too, absolutely. i just doubt that o'callaghan has much trade value at all.

oh, I am with you there. I would highly doubt they would. maybe O'call and a pick.

why didn't we sign Greg Ellis when we had the chance? Seriously, he's better than Derrick Burgess and has played in a 3-4. All it would have taken was to up our offer from 1.5 to 3.5 million. I would have done that in a heartbeat. 2 million more for a pass rush.

Because the Pats don't have all that much cap room.

I think the answer is right in your post BB obviously didn't want him for 2 million more than he offered.

I think Burgess was all-pro only one year, wasn't he? in 2005?

He made the pro bowl in 2006 but wasn't all-pro

Still an excellent player, of course

The just resigned Seth Wand and waived a rookie tight end Chris O'Neill out of Boise.
