Sulak Clears Waivers

A week after being waived by the Oakland Raiders, sixth-round defensive end/linebacker Stryker Sulak has cleared waivers and is looking to get into an NFL training camp in August.

I don't think that Sulak is on the Pats radar at all. My reasoning is that he's not good against the run, he doesn't have the ability to drop back to cover and all he can do is put his head down and rush the passer.. and even then, he takes himself out of position at times.

That, to me, is 3 strikes against him in regards to what the Pats look for in an OLB.

I'm a smidgen more optimistic. The Pats would really seem to need another camp body at the position -- they're only 1 over regular roster number at this point. And a 6'5" 251 4.63 athlete with good instincts and a good attitude isn't easy to find wandering the streets in July. No more than a PS candidate, I'm sure, but they could use one of those.

I don't remember which All-Star game he played off the top of my head, but I remember him making plays that involved keeping his head in the game, if they can find room, I'd take a flyer on him.

Hey, man, be easy on our OLB, Vrabel, uh, I mean, Crable- Chicken Legs? Reiss mentioned in June how Shawn's legs looked noticeably "thicker."

Maybe that's how he got himself injured in the first place. His gain is our loss.
