What a doofus Gonzales is. He finally gets a great GM and a decent coach, and a good QB, and he jumps ship. He better hope the Falcons weren't a one-year wonder.

Great move by the Falcons. Fantastic move. Depending on what they do in this draft, don't be surprised to see this team in the Super Bowl.

They need some LB, DT and CB.. They are REAL thin at those positions.. And remember their schedule is a lot tougher this year (facing the AFC East).. And 4 of their games next year are against teams that are coming off a bye week..

At first glance it's a good move for both teams, a win-win in my opinion. Chiefs get are now back in the second round, which they really needed to do. Better to get something of value for Gonzalez that may help the team for several years. Falcons give their offense another weapon to go with Roddy White and Michael Turner; in the short term Gonzalez should be more productive than a 2nd round draft pick would be.

Now the 'why didn't the Pats trade for Gonzalez' comments will start in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...

They need some LB, DT and CB.. They are REAL thin at those positions.. And remember their schedule is a lot tougher this year (facing the AFC East).. And 4 of their games next year are against teams that are coming off a bye week..

Panthers will take a step back this year, I think ATL has a great chance to win NFC South (even with shortcomings) and if they can secure a bye, this team will contend.

With Ryan another year wiser and now Gonzo, this is going to be the best offense in the NFC.

How difficult has it been historically for the Patriots to gain picks in drafts? I'm not saying they should have gone for Gonzalez, but to act as if it would have been a bad move is just ridiculous, especially given all the pissing and moaning we get here about Watson.

The Patriots have 11 draft picks this season. The team would be incredibly lucky if even one of them has Tony Gonzalez-like production this season or next. Moving one of 3 second round picks this year would have been a great move by the Patriots in terms of value/risk, nevermind moving a 2nd from next year.

100% agree. Taking a second next year, you'd think KC would take the Pats original 2009 second-rounder for Gonzo. Shame the Pats didn't go after him. Watching the Pro Bowl, he looked like the best player on the field.
