Cleveland Browns are popular in NFL rumor mill - Cleveland Browns football NFL News - cleveland.com
One rumor has the Browns trading Brady Quinn and Shaun Rogers to Denver for Jay Cutler and a third-round draft choice.

Denver is in a quandary after word leaked out that new coach Josh McDaniels tried to acquire Matt Cassell in a three-way deal with New England and Tampa Bay. (Cutler would have wound up with the Buccaneers.) Now that the toothpaste is out of the tube, the Broncos may figure they have to part ways with Cutler.

McDaniels was schooled on offense in New England by Charlie Weis, who then coached Quinn at Notre Dame. So Quinn should appeal to him. McDaniels also needs a stout nose tackle to anchor new coordinator Mike Nolan's 3-4 defense. That's where the newly disgruntled Rogers comes in.

That would be a good trade for both teams. But only if Cutler's relationship with the Broncos can't be fixed.

And, a Cleveland newspaper has stated that this trade rumour has no value.

This whole situation is just ridiculous. If any of this is true McDaniels needs to take a long breath and and let Culter cool down. Cutler is acting like a bit of a whiner but given time I'm sure everything will settle down. He is a tremendous talent.

Rogers and Quinn? Not enough.

Rogers is worth a 4th.

Cutler is worth 2 #1s, at least.

So, this would mean Quinn = Cutler almost. I don't think so.

Denver would be incredibly dumb to do this trade.

What is McDaniels doing? LOL. Cutler is a legit franchise QB who he can mentor in his offense. Why all the shenanigans? It wasn't Denver's offense that failed them last year, it was their defense. Denver's passing offense was legit, their running game took a hit because of all the injuries, he should look into fixing that first and foremost along with the defensive issues. Now, he's got an unhappy QB who he might give up for some unknown commodities. Quinn over Cutler? WTF?

McDaniels showing even more lack of judgment and situational awareness

Realizing the interest in "Brady" Quinn by Tom Brady's former QB coach in New England, Josh McDaniels, and eager to move on from Minnesota, Tavaris Jackson changed his name to Tavaris Brady today. There were rumors of other QBs changing their names as well. Reports surfaced of Lemon Brady, Bishop Brady and Griese Brady.

To play devil's advocate for a second (and I think it would be a dumb move for Denver) this move would help their defense and if McDaniels feels he can get the best out of Quinn since he theoretically knows the offense it wouldn't be the worst move they could make.

That said, Cutler is way better than Quinn.

Quinn is completely unproven. He's not even close in value to Cutler. And they have Denver kicking in a 3rd? LOL. That's unbelievable. Nothing to see here.

There was a report out a few days ago the CUTLER had ASKED the Broncos to consider trading him... even though he's acting like he has hurt feelings now. If that's the case I don't see any pressure the the Broncos would have to get rid of him - aside from the fact that he wants to play elsewhere.

All these Bronco trades rumors sound like something out of a fantasy football league. Guess that's what you get when you hire a 32-year-old coach though ...

cutler has been in a hissy fit ever since the broncos QB coach split for USC

If Brady Quinn is "unproven", what exactly has Cutler "proved"?

He's proven he has a big arm

He has also proven:

He is a monster loser. How do we know? He has never won anything.

He is mentally and emotionally immature. He sucks as a leader.

This loser is this decade's Jeff George (except Jeff George did have a winning season).

You guys might want to consult Phillip Rivers on Cutler. There is one dude who understands.

Anyone who would take that loser over Cassel is nuts.

McDaniels showing even more lack of judgment and situational awareness

Here's what's happening. Cutler is a baby who decided he wanted out when McDaniels was hired. Maybe Cutler didn't think he could take over an offense that isn't looking vertically downfield. It's an offense that is going to take what you give it.

Then the Broncos were listening to potential deals, as anyone would this time of year, and Cutler and his agent hatched this scheme to blow their way out of what was going to be an uncomfortable situation, playing for coaches whose scheme he didn't believe in. He wanted Shanahan, and this is just a Shanny hangover. His agent Cook was cut-off by the Broncos when he began publicizing things.

Then Cutler blew a gasket, said he was only going to play for the players, not the coaches, then he refused to speak with the coach, even on the telephone.

The Broncos responded by leaking info to Peter King about Cutler asking to be traded.

Now you have other teams jumping in with bogus rumors that are purely meant to inflate the situation. They see blood, and they will get the sharks circling.

I doubt this rumor is true. Personally I think Cutler is overrated and has collapsed in pressure situations and I seriously doubt the Broncos will trade Cutler for just Rogers (very good player, but royal pain in the arse) and Quinn (shown flashes but not shown enough yet). It seems like this is one of those rumors of convenience. People think Cutler is still on the block and that the Browns are interested. The whole Charlie Weis/McDaniels relationship is overstated since McDaniels only severed on season under Weis on offense.

this where the term 'system QB' benefits........coaches want a guy who can execute the system they want to execute rather than build a system around the abilities of a QB

there exceptions to this (manning, elway, etc), but they are few and cutler is not one of them
