Reiss: Cassel most likely to KC

The Pats get at minimum a first rounder for Matt. Otherwise, the team just locks him up on a long term contract as Brady's replacement. Teams will have to pay if they want him.

that's what i've been saying. make a good deal or keep him. don't just give him away.

I'll take it in a completely different direction. The Pats trade the 23rd and Cassel to Dallas for Ware. Dallas trades Romo to Detroit for the 20th. All three players sign lucrative 5 year contracts.

IMO Romo is done in Dallas. He's lost the receivers, half the team and probably Jerry "Mr. Impatient" Jones. They now have a shotgun oriented QB that will thrive with that offense and two 1st round picks. I believe this is Ware's contract year. When Romo fails, next year Jones will be faced with Ware as a FA while having to find a QB capable of winning now with his veteran offense. He moves now instead. Detroit has a veteran QB that may well revert to his earlier form without the pressure of performing for America's Team. They also still have their #1 for an OL. The Pats have what will be the most versatile and electrifying front seven in the league.

win...win...win

Interesting...But then again I am a sucker for trades. It spices things up to an otherwise dull NFL other than the draft and very few top FAs as most are JAGs.

outside of moosehunting, i thought everything was legal in canada.

You can do anything you want to with a moose (at your own risk, of course), except hunt it.

You can definitely hunt moose, just not year round.

Incidentally, there are no moose anywhere near where I live (like, directly west of Buffalo).

Im going to say a second round pick from Kc and a fifth.. But Im sure that is the only team the pats would take a second from. Bad blood between Min and the pats over the garret mills issuie, plus Sage Rosenfields was cheaper.. Where is Tommy Kramer when you need him...

You're kidding me, are you out there? If so, why ?

Yes, but like about 2 hours directly west. Smack dab between Buffalo and Detroit.

Tell me you wouldn't look far and wide for a better team to root for, hehe.

But really, Moose live quite a few hours further North than this - probably because of the economy. I'm a good deal south (and east) of Chicago, in fact.

I guess I kind of live in the Florida of Canada, hehe. Like today it's 4 degrees, and that's t-shirt weather, y'all.

Ah, fun stuff. I can't think of anywhere else I would want to be other than in and around Buffalo NY during the months of Jan and Feb, where else would anyone want to be. AHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!

Isn't Lake Erie directly west of Buffalo?

I think we got robbed a couple of years ago when we swapped picks with SF we traded one of our 2 #1's that year for SF pick last year'08 and nothing else. I said on here at the time i had never seen one team (the pats) trade their first rnd.pick for another teams first the year after and not get anything more such as a third rounder.

You were wrong then and, looking back in hindsight, you are still wrong. Why are you insisting on using your idea of value instead of the actual value? Trading the 28th pick in the draft to get the 8th pick in the draft is bad value? That's ridiculous.

The whole concept that a 1993 draft pick is worth a whole lot less than the equivalent 1992 draft pick just doesn't hold water. (If you prefer, substitute years 2010 and 2009.) The fact that BB and some others have recognized this while many are still stuck in their old way of thinking just gives the Patriots an advantage in deals such as this.

What are you talking about. I know i didn't do a good job of explaining what i was thinking but i wasn't That far of.
What i was trying to get across was for ex. if the pats had two #1 '09 picks this year and traded one of them to a team for that teams next years 2010 #1st rnd pick it shouldn't
be an even swap. If were going to give team X one of our 1st rnd this year for their next (God knows were that pick will end up. If team X does well we may lose 10-12 draft slots) then team X should give us something to sweeten the deal this year such at least their third rnd pick this year. In '07 we got a 4th, which i and a lot of people around here at the time thought was a lousy trade.

A 4th round pick that turned into Randy Moss. And then the 1st we got from SF turned into Jerod "Rookie of the Year" Mayo. Did BB know fur sure he was going to get Randy Moss for a 4th? Maybe not but I believe discussions must have been in place already and he had an inkling he could use the ammo from the trade of his extra 1st rounder to get a deal done. He turned a late 1st into a high 1st and Randy Moss. I can't believe anyone can criticize that trade now.
