Just as an aside, I expect Charlie to get the job done well enough to remain after this year. His players are now experienced, and there's talent on that squad.

Also, even though I think Florida is a better gig, Notre Dame can jump right back to the top with 2-3 good seasons.

I agree, ND can be a force again, and will - it's really just a matter of time.

from what i saw, I just hope nobody ever starts a thread asking if we should try to get Tebow or Bradford or even the kid from Georgia. None of them impressed me much this bowl season.
I like Bradford a lot, great accuracy if he can get in the right offense.

For what it's worth.

From the article:

" But here's the thing—what if Meyer, after the Jan. 8 BCS championship game, decides he is done? If he wins the title, and Tebow bails, Meyer is going to have to start from scratch.

Notre Dame, however, is a different story: a roster filled with juniors and seniors and a perfect quarterback to run Meyer's beloved spread in incoming freshman Dayne Crist. Buh-bye, Jimmy Clausen. Hello, Dayne Crist.

Would this not be the perfect time for Meyer to take over the reigns? Wouldn't the timing be perfect?"

Interesting possibilities at work:cool2:

I think that IF Tebow leaves, it's 50/50 that he goes - If Tebow stays he won't leave........yet.

The other side is that if Charlie does well next year, then ND won't let him go and that might play in Urban's decision.

If they get rid of Charlie after next season (I hope they don't, I want Charlie to do well), Meyer is going to ND - you can take that to the bank.

Meyer is not leaving, all the Notre Dame lovers can keep dreaming. He has said he will not be leaving, if he does it will be for the NFL. UF is a more prominent program now than ND, and will be for the foreseeable future.

"I grew up in the North, and [Notre Dame] was my dream job. Probably always will be. That has nothing to do with this. … This is the best job in America. I hope to be here for a long, long time. I hear that out there, and it's my fault."

<...Tosses 'if Josh goes then maybe Charlie comes back and that's why BB was at the game theory' out my window LOL :bricks:.

My first thought - they're trying to woo Urban Meyer into accepting the OC position with the Pats knowing JMD will be named HC in Denver.

Remember earlier this year, maybe during the Pats bye, Kraft was in Florida visiting with Urban Meyer . . .
Being a head coach of a major college program is a sweet gig. Meyer makes $2mil per year, probably has some very nice perks (free car, rent-free house) plus good income from speaking engagements. On top of that there's more job security, there's no state income tax in Florida, and it's a higher profile position. While I would love for Meyer to become the OC after JMD leaves, I just can't see it happening. It was just a case of BB watching a big game that a friend of his was coaching in.

Maybe some firsthand early scouting for April's draft..................

Negative, that will take place in the bowels of Gillette stadium in a week or two in a film room. He's just taking a mental break. Everyone heard him at the press conference after we officially didn't make the playoffs, the man needs a rest.

Do you really think Tebow has anything to do with his decision? Did you see the athletes on the field last night? They had a speed advantage at every single position. Meyer won with Chris Leak, Tebow, and he'll continue to win with whoever else comes in because it's a great system and he gets the best talent in the country.

I mean, I know Tebow walks on water, but I think the Gators (unfortunately) will be fine without him.

I agree. In this Championship game and the first one, what impressed me the most was the speed they have on defense. Tebow is a stud; but the Gators also shut down the highest scoring team in college football.

I think he's there watching his friends team play for the Championship, nothing more.

agreed 100%...the Krafts and BB are too cool to try to recruit the guy during one of the biggest weeks of his career...two national titles...awesome stuff!

Look the guy like florida, and the guy can evaluate talent.

As to why he's smiling...
